Continental Hotel

Odessa was thelast stop on our interrailing through Europe, so we thought we'd celebrate with a bit of class! We stayed two nights and absolutely loved it. The girls took advantage of the pampering services at the spa and salon, while the lads headed down to the beach. As we were quite a large group, we opted for the apartments which were definitely worth it!

The staff was outstanding. They were friendly and helpful, including getting me Opera tickets before I arrived. The rooms are nicely appointed, though the bath/shower combination is a bit cumbersome to get in and out of and the TV only has Ukrainian or Russian channels. The restaurant is quite nice and breakfast is always very good. And the WiFi worked well throughout as I had work email to get done. The location is fantastic, right in the centre of old town Odessa, two blocks from the concert hall. The hotel is a great choice and enables a visitor toreally explore Odessa.

The hotel had a driver waiting for me at the airport (by prior arrangement) and the girls at the front desk were friendly and spoke good English. The hotel is clean and well kept as was the room and bathroom and everything was in good repair. The hotel is also a very short walk from the restaurants and shopping on Deribasovskaya Street. The included in-room wi-fi was a nice amenity and worked well.

The staff was friendly and quite helpful throughout my stay. They arranged concert tickets and and excellent tour guide for Odessa. The food is quite good at the hotel restaurant and the rooms were clean and comfortable. And the location 2 blocks from the Opera house is outstanding.

This hotel could not be in a better location. It was literally walking distance from most of the best sights in Odessa. The reception staff was friendly, and their English speaking skills were excellent. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. I think the only downfall was the prevalence of smoking in the hotel, but from what I can tell, it was the norm for European hotels. The breakfast, however, need special mention. The food was fresh and very, very tasty. The wait staff was accommodating and friendly. I think the breakfast was equal in quality to some five star hotels I have stayed in!

I very much enjoyed my experience at this hotel in August 2009.The staff at the hotel was very professional, friendly, and easy to get along with. The nice desk receptionist was happy to help me get my cell phone working with a Ukrainian SIM card purchased locally.I do not speak Russian or Ukrainian and I was still able to call this hotel from USA, reserve my room, and pre-arrange for a driver (who didn't speak English) and interpreter to transfer me from Odessa Central (ODS) airport to this hotel. The interpreter was very nice and made me feel very comfortable as soon as I met her and the driver outside the black metal gate at the airport. The driver was friendly too. The interpreter held up a large poster with my name on it outside the black airport fence, so it was easy to identify her. My flight was delayed a couple of hours, and I was unable to notify the hotel of this to adjust the time of my transfer. So, the interpreter and driver came once and I was not there. When they returned to pick me up a couple of hours later, they made no issue of this and were, instead, very friendly and happy to meet me and take me to the hotel.Check-in was simple and quick.I stayed in a Standard room which was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Free room slippers were even provided! The electronic safe in the room worked and provided additional security for valuables. The staff explained the operation of the electronic safe.The only thing that caused some difficulty was trying to obtain a wash cloth the next morning. This hotel (like other hotels in Ukraine) provides hand towels and bath towels, but not wash cloths. The cleaning staff I dealt with did not speak English. My attempts to explain what a wash cloth is were unsuccessful, though the cleaning staff and desk staff tried their best to provide what I wanted. I ended up taking a shower without a wash cloth. So, take a wash cloth with you if you intend to use one.I definitely plan to stay at this hotel the next time that I am in Odessa.

Das Continental Hotel liegt in der Nähe der Altstadt. Nur wenige 100 Meter von den schönsten Sehenswürdigkeiten entfernt. Auch das neue Fussballstadion ist in Gehweite. Das Hotel ist rund um die Uhr bewacht. Das Personal, vom Portier, Reception bis zum Reinigungsdienst, ist sehr zuvorkommend. Kann nur gelobt werden. Im Restaurant Voyage, welches sich im Hotel befindet, wird das Frühstück eingenommen (inklusive, ist gut). Abends ist das Restaurant ein öffentliches Speiselokal. Ebenfalls zu empfehlen. Es empfiehlt sich den Airport-Abholservice des Hotels in Anspruch zu nehmen. Man wird mit einem Mercedes 500 abgeholt und direkt ins Hotel gefahren (Kosten 250 UAH plus Trinkgeld, ca. Fr. 30). Klappt perfekt. Normale Taxis können kleine Lada's sein. Fahrzeit ca. 20 Minuten. Reservation via E-Mail an Hotel reicht. Die Einzelzimmer sind klein, aber zweckmässig mit Doppelbett ausgestattet. LAN-Kabel mitnehmen oder an der Reception velangen. Internetverbindung funktioniert bestens. Würde wieder dieses Hotel wählen.
