Great location
This hotel is located in a perfect spot for a first time trip to Edinburgh. Just down the street from St. Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh Castle, and everything the Old Town has to offer but only a short walk to the New Town. Our room overlooked the Scot Monument and Princes Street Gardens - beautiful! The small suite with kitchen was great for stopping in for tea and shortbread each afternoon before going out again. Really lovely place to stay.

Perfect location!!
I would highly recommend this hotel. My boyfriend and I went for a weekend getaway and kept commenting on how glad we were we booked here. The location literally couldn't be more perfect. Breakfast was lovely and the hotel is very stylish and well kept. Loved the giant shower too. My only complaint would be the sheets! The pillow case would get really wrinkly and I'd have sleep marks on my face all morning! There were tears in the sheets too which I thought was odd. Overall, a great stay though.

Edinburgh
At first we were frustrated. We had two rooms and one was to have two twin beds. This was not the case. When we asked for the twins the first person said there were none. We then asked for a cot and she said there were none. We asked for a different room and that was not available either. At that point we decided our daughter would have to sleep on the floor! As we went out for the evening we ask to have extra linen. They asked if we were cold. I said, " no but someone was gonna sleep on the floor." Lady looked upset. When we returned there was a lovely, comfortable extra bed. Thank you to the young lady (wish I knew her name) you made our weekend!

Great Suites
We were extremely pleased with the suites. Great kitchen with all the amenities. The work-out facility was great. The location was perfect--near to everything. The only issue was the housekeeping. The bathroom was not cleaned properly for two days running. However, all the other amenities made up for this. I think it is important to make sure that the suite is cleaned properly and report it to the front desk if it is not.

The Forest Cafe is a laid back vegetarian and vegan cafe (long walk or short cab ride) The Chocolate Tree is a fantastic cake and chocolate cafe with vegan cakes and chocolates. (long walk or short cab ride) Real Foods is a fantastic health food store (Scottish vegan cheese is wonderful) (long walk or short cab ride)

Great location and room amenities
Check in was smooth. Refrigerator in the room wasn't working. Front desk failed to record the need to repair but after speaking to another person it was replaced. Towel rake never worked

Royal Mile locale
Our stay at the Fraser Suites of Edinburgh was great overall. The last time I stayed in Edinburgh, I stayed in a guest house in the New Town. Comparing the two, I definitely preferred the flexibility, comfort, amenities, and location of the Fraser Suites. I preferred the cost of the guest house, but the rate at the Fraser Suites was reasonable, given the quality and location. Traveled as a couple and stayed for 2 nights. I didn't try the restaurant or the gym so can't speak on those. What I can say is that the Fraser Suites hotel is in a fantastic location for tourists! Just a few blocks from Edinburgh castle, about a half block off the Royal Mile, not far from Grassmarket, and right next to the New Steps that lead down to Waverley bridge & station. The staff were extremely friendly and helped us out with just about everything from printing to directions to advice for golfing. The room was comfortable and clean. One thing that would have made it better is if they could have checked us in earlier. With an overseas, overnight flight, it would have been great if our room had been available upon our arrival in the morning, but it's understandable that it wasn't. To accommodate us, they stored our luggage while we went sight seeing. They also have a sitting area with a few comfortable chairs and complimentary coffee. Don't sit next to the window on a windy day, however! Being in the Old Town, it's an old building. The windows are quite drafty. The room had nice, thick curtains that kept the room warm, but left us relying heavily on the alarm clock as the sun couldn't get in either! And lastly, being so close to the castle, the hotel is on a big hill so expect to get some exercise if you go to other parts of town on foot. A shuttle to and from Waverley station would have been fantastic! Instead, we walked up the hill with luggage from the train station (thank goodness we're fairly fit!) and took a cab back down (a little pricey for being so close). Overall, I enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Mercat Tours' Ghost Tour - there are scarier tours but this is the one for you if you want a fun way to learn about Medieval Edinburgh. Go at night, do stay for the drink, and request the tour guide that calls herself "Black Agnes". She was very entertaining and knows her history!

Birthday in Scotland
My daughter and I had a wonderful week in Scotland and England to celebrate my 65th birthday. First 2 nights in Fraser Suites was great. Perfect location in Old Edinburgh. Couldn't control the temp in room so when it got too hot we had to open the window and the wind, rain, and noise made for a rough first night. But I'd stay there again and again!

It's All About Location
Location is prime, right in Old Town, 5 minutes to Edinburgh Castle. Staff was great. Suites are small, very limited storage space for clothes, pillows like wafers, coffee-tea-biscuits never restocked, TV operation not very good - plus bad location to view, bed was average to poor for comfort, breakfast over-priced. We had a great view of the air conditioning units - not very attractive. Space is good for one person, crowded with two.

We ate at The Advocate twice, food was very good. Plenty of choices near the hotel - pubs, Middle Eastern, American, Italian and even a michelin rated restaurant all within 5-7 minutes from Fraser Suites.

Great Hotel!
My brief stay at the hotel, 3 nights, was perfect. I've been to Edinburgh several times for both business and vacation and this was by far the best hotel I've stayed in so far. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Waverly Train Station and the airport Rail Link bus service. It's perfectly situated right off the Royal Mile and had none of the noise that would have otherwise come from the festival going on there. The staff were excellent, friendly, always had a smile and willing to help with anything. One minor issue was the few mildew stains in the shower, but that's fairly typical for wet and damp Scotland. Otherwise a perfect hotel and I will definitely book there again.
