Good location, but very noisy

The location on Leith Walk is great, as it puts you in easy walking range of the train station, museums, the Royal Mile, and even the castle. My room, however, was exceptionally noisy, as any vehicular traffic noise resonates in the windows. This noise is out of proportion to what would be expected for that road. Additionally, the room was drafty, and overall not conducive to a good sleep. The Internet connection is abysmal. Like it or not, a good Internet connection is now frequently expected in hotels (especially ones costing this much). The verdict: Good location, but otherwise mediocre.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Turquoise Thistle restaurant is a couple blocks away, and has excellent food. (It's located in the Indigo Hotel.)

great location for a single traveler

very centrally located, a bit of construction going on in front, which made for a difficult delivery. Seem to book many tour groups through this hotel, which they handle very well. A plentiful breakfast served daily and nice bar for beverages. Staff was very kind and helpful when needed. I was a single traveler and would definitely return to this hotel in the future. Price was right and location couldn't have been better!

Buyer Beware ! !

The Holiday Inn marque didnt hold up so well this time. The majoriity of the desk staff needed more training on Customer Service. Basically unconcerned. We found only 1 ice maker on the ground floor. It had what I would call 18 oz cups for your ice. We were seniors and my friend with a knee handicap, and stayed on the 4th floor. Room was small and no closets or dresser drawers. We were there for 6 days. What was there appeared to be a an open Media Center against the wall with nothing but offset shelves!!! (better not be taking your woman !) ...that was absurd. It was an attic room...basically a closet, with one window that appeared non-opening until we had to go down and ask them to open it. We certainly wont stay there again, nor recommend and will review any Holiday Inn very carefully, if at all.

Good for Edinburgh Festival ....

nicely renovated from big old building, very comfortable to stay. Inconvenience, if any, would be a little bit distant from the castle and the royal miles...but still can get there on foot in 10 min ... rather quiet at night which could be advavntage over those hotels near busy street

Great location

Great location - close to Princess street, bus station and rail station. Breakfast is included in the price - it was great, but it closes at 9:30 AM on week day, so missed it once. Rooms are spacious, there is TV, hair dryer and most importantly FREE Internet
