Great hotel in a super location

My wife and I were very pleased with our stay at the SAS Radisson in Edinburgh. It is in the middle of the Royal Mile very near the train station. We were able to walk to everything of real interest in Edinburgh. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. The staff was courteous and helpful. The dining room was on the expensived side but there are plenty of good restaurants nearby. The concierge was very helpful in making recommendations for resstaurants and sightseeing. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and we would stay there if we ever return.

Best location in town

On the Royal Mile, easy walk to anywhere you might want to go. Staff quite helpful. The room was good sized, as was the bathroom. However, carpeting in the hallway and the rooms needs to be replaced; many stains. Bed was not as comfortable as one would expect, pillows were foam and pretty bad; but the duvet was wonderful. Would stay there again because of the location. Also great view from my room!

Very nice hotel, great location

The hotel was very nice. Location was probably the best on the Royal Mile. Right in the center of the mile with a taxi pick up right out front. The business center computers were slow and didn't always work. My key card often didn't work. The staff was helpful.

A tremendous stay on the Royal Mile

We've stayed at hotels throughout Europe, and found the Radisson SAS in Edinburgh to be one of the most enjoyable places we have stayed in. The rooms were well appointed and well decorated, and we were lucky enough to have a fantastic view of the Firth of Forth and cliffs East of the city right from our room window. The staff were very courteous and helpful, & the breakfasts provided great fuel to start the day. I would definitely stay here again.

Solid Hotel

Booked the Deluxe room - very large for London standards. Large bathroom, excellent amenities. Breakfast room was very nice, staff friendly. About a 8 minute walk from the Marble Arch tube stop. Oversized bed with tons of pillows and luxurious bedding. Extra towels, robes and slippers included. Didn't have a tea/coffee maker in room which was annoying. Housekeeping could have been a little more detail oriented.

Prime location

The Radisson SAS offers a super location toward the upper, castle, end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile, two blocks uphill from Waverly Station. It is within easy walking distance of many of the city's principal attractions and museums. Its immediate surroundings are filled with restaurants, bars and nightspots, although the neighboring one can be noisy into the wee hours. The building is designed in a faux medieval style, which at least tries to blend in with the surroundings. The interior can be dark, although that is also a function of location and climate. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, sized more typically of North America than Europe. But the carpets are starting to show signs of wear throughout the property, and the bathroom, while acceptable, could have done with a more thorough cleaning. The main elevators are small and, like the rest of Edinburgh, not particularly geared for handicapped access. The front desk staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. I did not use the ground-floor bar/restaurant, which seemed to attract more cocktail drinkers than diners. That may be because there are many good alternatives in the space of a couple blocks. If you are traveling without a laptop or other device, there are two computer terminals off the lobby; they are not lightning fast. There is a charge for morning newspapers delivered to your room.
