Very friendly staff. Large rooms. Very well kept old building. There is scaffolding up on the front of the building while they update it but there was no inconvenience or noise from this work. The

This is a superb place to live if you know what "want sleep - will sleep" means. There was a bus stop just outside my room (though I lived on the kind of second floor), so now I know the schedule))

Gordon's - leaving the hotel go left down Prince's Street, head across the bridge all the way up to the Royal Mile. Turn right onto the Royal Mile and Gordon's is there. The best salmon pasta dish - absolutely delicious, I can't remember the name, but it's under Secundi Pesci. 1st one. So good.
