Basic accommodation for decent price
The hotel is fairly basic and the breakfast isn't great. Having said that, it's right on the sea and for the price I paid (25/night for a single) was well worth the price. Would definitely recommend to budget travellers.

Cheap and cheerful
This is not the best hotel I have stayed in by a long way, but it is the best value - EVER. I do not know the normal rate, but my £25 a night included a hot buffet breakfast. There were toiletries, tea/coffe, comfortable bed and clean bathroom. No musky smell or shared shower like some other places I have stayed at this price. If you are on a budget you won't go wrong here.

Not impressed!
We booked a double room and arrived to find that we were in a twin-bedded room, which they were unable to change. They offered us the option of moving us to a double room later in our stay, but we were only staying one night. The towels in the bathroom were stained. When we pointed this out, they were replaced, though the soiled ones were not removed. The waste paper bin had not been emptied before our arrival. The porridge at breakfast was lumpy, which isn't the case at Butlins!

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
Do visit Dover Castle. You may want to allow a full day for this, as there is so much there. It does involve a lot of walking.

A cold wet & stormy night in Winter
A cold wet & stormy night in Winter isn't recommended to be in Folkestone, but the greeting & room was warm. Whilst a gale howled in the Channel the resident singer entertained the appreciative crowd. Although not my cup of tea, but that's not why I stayed here. The price & location was excellent, the room and food adequate, the staff friendly. All in all excellent value for money.

Cheap and cheerful
This was a short overnight stop before getting the ferry early in the morning. Plenty of entertainment on offer, very busy and quite friendly atmosphere. Buffet style evening meal was average, food was quite bland and not very exciting but plenty of it. Room was large and clean, bed comfy but tired decor.

A lovely hotel in a great location, with bedrooms overlooking the harbour and within easy walk of the town. Breakfast was good and plentiful, complementary papers were provided, the room was fine, would recommend without reservation

Hotel looking very tired and in
Hotel looking very tired and in need of modernisation. The night we stayed there were 3 private functions on and there were over 800 guests .Could not find a parking space anywhere and had to park offsite. Huge queues the next morning for breakfast - out into the lobby and no free tables.
