unbeatable location for the price
The only drawback was lack of internet connections in the rooms, which apparently will be installed soon. Internet was available in the lobby.

Perfect Location with Lovely staff..really enjoyed my stay here, it is right in the center with loads to do would go back again well worth the money. The hotel is old but this did not bother me at all even though it seems to be a problem with previous reviewers.

Heart of Glasgow
The Millenium was perfectly located--next to the Queen St. train station, the Bucanan tube stop, and right on George's Square. A short walk takes you to the Modern Art museum, or to Argyll Arcade. The tube 'Clockwork Orange' makes getting around the city easy. We spend an entire day at the Glasgow Science Center--and we didn't even have kids with us! It's a must for families with little ones. Walk just down Bucanan St to get to Waxy O'Connors, an eclectic multi-storey pub. One room looks like it was carved from a tree, others feel like you're sitting in church. Lovely 14' high ceilings at the Millenium were a change from cramped London hotels. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet had a full range of foods from the familiar to haggis (try it, you'll like it). We'll be back for sure.

Use the underground to get to attractions such as the Glasgow Science Center. Just make sure you can find your way back to the station, and have an umbrella for the ubiquitous rain.

Good experience with Millenium
This hotel is in an ideal location, the airport shuttle stops right in front and it is very convenient for sightseeing. The staff is first rate, very willing to help and answer questions and when I arrived exhausted after an all night flight, I was given a room immediately, something that has never happened to me in several trips to Europe, usually we have to endure several hours waiting for official check in time.

A very enjoyable stay. However,
A very enjoyable stay. However, don't leave your belongings on top of desks as the maid tidies them away! We had to look in cupboards for ours before we found them!

Location is stunning.
Public
Location is stunning. Public areas were good but room was very dated (Late 70s). Water pressure in the shower was poor and the mattress was worn and saggy.

Just the Facts.....
I have just returned after having spent nine days in the Millenium where I was exposed to three different rooms -- two of which were labled " executive " rooms all on the third floor. My observations and opinions are based upon what I saw on the third floor and in the lobby/bar/restuarant area. This Millenium is shabby, expensive and I'm sorry to say should be considered an embarrassment to Scotland. The good news about this hotel is its location smack dab in the heart of Glasgow on St George's Sq. and next to the Queen St. station. It's very convenient to shopping, pubs, museums and the concert hall. It also has some of the hottest water I've ever experienced in a hotel.. so much so that I wondered if there is a temperature control on the boilers. The staff for the most part were pleasant although some of the male waiters seemed to take an unreasonably (20 minutes) long time to acknowledge new customers even when it was not a peak time. I requested a quiet room in the front of the hotel and it was. The bathrooms had been updated although there is only one shaving outlet permitted so I found myself rooting around behind the TV for other outlets which were very scarce. I would seriously caution anyone accustomed to US 4 star hotel standards because judging by this particular Millenium hotel, there is a WORLD of difference. The carpeting in the hallways and the rooms I saw was worn, stained and had a 3-4 inch border of dirt along the entire perimeter. Two of the chairs we used in the lounge area had big seatwide stains on them as well. A bedside table in my room had a 4 inch wide water stain and deep scratchs. Two of the light bulbs were burned out. The furniture in the rooms was of the cheapest quality and the wallpaper, fabrics and decor was depressing and badly in need of a decorator's touch. One member of the housekeeping staff boldly knocked on my door about 9 am despite the "Do Not Disturb" tag hanging on the knob.It took 4 days before a clean facecloth was provided. Two days later it disappeared and was not replaced. The last day the cold water didn't work for about 5 hours and the toilets didn't flush. This hotel is also expensive. A small bottle of diet coke cost the equivalent of about $3.80, and continental breakfast in your room about $28.00. The good news is that you don't have to eat here. There are many less expensive places nearby. The "Victorian" description should be interpreted to mean an old hotel with dated facilities where the management apparently reasons there's no need to update things until they are light years away from being fresh and new, nor values an eye for detail to make repairs when needed.

Perfect Central Station!
The Millenium is the perfect location: The Glasgow Flyer (the airport bus shuttle) stops right at the door; the Queen Street Railway station is at the side of the entrance; the underground rail is a block away; George Square is to the front of the building; University of Strath-Clyde is a block away, The "Mile of Style" is a block away, and the Cathedral district is only 3 blocks. The hotel is cozy and steeped in style. Close to the Theatre District and high-end shopping. The lobby features a glass patio street cafe overlooking George Square, and the rooms are both spacious and clean featuring over-sized towels, plush terry bath robes, in-room safe and hot pot for tea, coffee and chocolate. Highly recommended for a classic British hotel experience.
