Not a 4star hotel
At an excellent location, that everyone can see whether living or visiting Glasgow, one could expect alot more from a 4star hotel (as they say). There are definetely better choices over there with better value. Would not recommend

Just the Facts.....
I have just returned after having spent nine days in the Millenium where I was exposed to three different rooms -- two of which were labled " executive " rooms all on the third floor. My observations and opinions are based upon what I saw on the third floor and in the lobby/bar/restuarant area. This Millenium is shabby, expensive and I'm sorry to say should be considered an embarrassment to Scotland. The good news about this hotel is its location smack dab in the heart of Glasgow on St George's Sq. and next to the Queen St. station. It's very convenient to shopping, pubs, museums and the concert hall. It also has some of the hottest water I've ever experienced in a hotel.. so much so that I wondered if there is a temperature control on the boilers. The staff for the most part were pleasant although some of the male waiters seemed to take an unreasonably (20 minutes) long time to acknowledge new customers even when it was not a peak time. I requested a quiet room in the front of the hotel and it was. The bathrooms had been updated although there is only one shaving outlet permitted so I found myself rooting around behind the TV for other outlets which were very scarce. I would seriously caution anyone accustomed to US 4 star hotel standards because judging by this particular Millenium hotel, there is a WORLD of difference. The carpeting in the hallways and the rooms I saw was worn, stained and had a 3-4 inch border of dirt along the entire perimeter. Two of the chairs we used in the lounge area had big seatwide stains on them as well. A bedside table in my room had a 4 inch wide water stain and deep scratchs. Two of the light bulbs were burned out. The furniture in the rooms was of the cheapest quality and the wallpaper, fabrics and decor was depressing and badly in need of a decorator's touch. One member of the housekeeping staff boldly knocked on my door about 9 am despite the "Do Not Disturb" tag hanging on the knob.It took 4 days before a clean facecloth was provided. Two days later it disappeared and was not replaced. The last day the cold water didn't work for about 5 hours and the toilets didn't flush. This hotel is also expensive. A small bottle of diet coke cost the equivalent of about $3.80, and continental breakfast in your room about $28.00. The good news is that you don't have to eat here. There are many less expensive places nearby. The "Victorian" description should be interpreted to mean an old hotel with dated facilities where the management apparently reasons there's no need to update things until they are light years away from being fresh and new, nor values an eye for detail to make repairs when needed.

pretty poor
I will keep it short. The room was pretty poor, carpets stained, wallpaper stained, leak in wall from bathroom into bedroom when shower was used. Got twin room when I wanted a double, single bed for a big man is not so good. On the plus side the location can't be beat and the bar was lovely overlooking George Sq. The rooms need a major renovation.

Needs a touch up
Comforatble enough room but one lamp shade was completely broken, kettle had to plugged into socket by door as nearest socket to table was too old and couldnt fit in, one lamp shade on wall was bent so if light was on the shade was burning. Old room, needs attention.

Location is stunning.
Public
Location is stunning. Public areas were good but room was very dated (Late 70s). Water pressure in the shower was poor and the mattress was worn and saggy.

Good location to train stations and shopping
Was a little disappointed to see hotel based on pictures presented on line, much more darker area but right in St George Square , near train and shopping. Staff working hard to do right and help guests. Glasgow being a dark city and weather cloudy, I would go back again but would consider more 3.5 hotel rather than a 4.

good location
My friend and I had a recent 3 night stay. The room we had was on the 4th floor with a view facing George Square which was fantastic. The room, although comfortable was quite jaded. the wallpaper on our ceiling was coming away and the wallpaper had seen better days. The bathroom, although quite big and bright had virtually no water pressure which made showering and hair washing a very looooong and tedious process. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. I would stay there again but not in the same room

Pre-booking lands you a Low Priority Customer
I booked through here and when I arrived at the hotel they weren't interested in accommodating my request for two Twin beds. This broker guarantees "double bed or twin beds." Which is a big difference if you're traveling with someone you don't share a bed with. The hotel gave me a very small double bed (not even a queen) and claimed the hotel was sold out and there were no twin bed rooms available. If you're prepaid, the hotel doesn't care about your business.
