Have stayed at the hotel a couple of times before and have always been extremely satisfied. Up-graded to an executive room this time, which included free drink vouchers for me and my girlfriend,so that was a bonus!!

Awesome weekend

Would recommend Thu 18 Jun 2015
Was in Manchester for the weekend to watch the Manchester United legends vs Bayern Munich game and was very pleased with my stay. The hotel is literally round the corner from Manchester Picadilly and the city centre which is very convenient. Staff were very polite and helpful. Overall I was very satisfied with my stay. Doubletree is at the top of my list next time I'm in Manchester!

Great location. Very good hotel

Would recommend Wed 4 Mar 2015
Ideal location if arriving by Train. Literally a 2 minute walk from Piccadilly Station. Room size was ok, but wouldn't want it any smaller. Loved the iMac tv/computer although it did crash a few times, so i had to reboot it. Wifi worked well. Bed was very comfortable. I stayed on the 5th floor & heard very little outside noise apart from the odd police siren. My only complaint was that the room needed extra lighting . It has those energy saving light bulbs which were pretty poor. Had to finish my paperwork in the bathroom.

Perfect location with cool amenities

Would recommend Tue 24 Jun 2014
First of all, the cookies!! The hotel is basically across the street from the Picadilly train station, which is excellent...you can even avoid steps and street crossings altogether if you take the right path. The hotel is modern and pretty, with aesthetically appealing sitting areas and restaurants. The view out our 6th floor room was quite nice - just buildings, but still pretty. The room doesn't have a TV but has a large Mac computer. If you aren't comfortable with them, I could see this being a negative, but I love them and enjoyed being able to watch Netflix on it in addition to regular TV channels. The remote is a little finicky, but you get used to it. Our room was a twin and the two twins could be pushed together, which was great when he was napping and I wasn't. The honor bar is empty which was nice because we used it as a fridge. The bathroom sink collected and dripped water, and the faucet was sort of high, but those were the only minor negatives - great shower (no tub). Interesting but pricey room service (of course), but tons of eating opportunities in the very nearby shopping area. A few minutes from Picadilly Gardens, the Canal (gay-friendly area), the Arndale Center (a HUGE mall), and the City Centre/Printworks building and upscale King Street were maybe a 10 minute walk. Easily the nicest & most comfortable hotel on our 3 week trip through the British Isles, and we got a great deal on it!

Excellent location, just near the train station

Would recommend Mon 7 Apr 2014
Stopped for one night on our way to Liverpool. Perfect location, just a couple of minutes walk from the train station, and a nice stroll to the centre for shops, restaurants etc. Staff pleasant and helpful. Room clean and spacious (pillows a bit uncomfortable though!). Breakfast the next morning was lovely. Have stayed here before, and would stay again.

Almost all positive

Would recommend Mon 30 Dec 2013
Check-in was easy and efficient. Hotel was just a block or so of the middle of a very active downtown Manchester. No need for taxis to get around. Room was clean and well-appointed. If I had any quibble I'd note that the in-room tv was not more than about 18' or so. Reception was quite good but a bit hard to see when lying on the bed halfway across the room. Didn't use it much so not really a big deal. Water main (for sewage) broke the night I was there and could not use the shower or flush the toilet for about 4 hours. Again, not a huge hassle given that it was squared away by the time we awoke and needed to use the facilities. All in all I'd recommend.

Dining

We ate in Manchester's Chinatown, which did not exist when I last visited. Had a nice inexpensive meal at the Happy Seasons Restaurant. Was very casual, quite crowded with a variety of locals and the menu and quality was in line with local Chinese restaurants back in the States.

Friendly staff, very helpful, room was great, so convenient for those travelling by train! The Apple Mac was very useful. We love the Macs! If you are shopping, don't forget to use the free city bus.

Great hotel, spoilt by pricing error

Would recommend Tue 2 Oct 2012
I cannot knock the hotel facilities or location of which both are great. The only thing that spoilt our stay was that there was a discrepancy with the original price I paid (back in January) and the price I was told I had been charged after my stay in September. When I questioned this overpayment on my behalf I was told ‘Oh it’s just the wrong price that has been put on the receipt, sir’ and then the hotel staff just walked away. I’m not sure that would have happened had I been undercharged! Quite an expensive hotel given what I’d paid, reasonable if I had been charged what the invoice said! Shame really.

Dining

Lovely breakfast at a place called Cafe Metro opposite the Arndale Centre at a fraction of the cost of the breakfast in the hotel.

Grrrrreat hotel

Would recommend Wed 18 Jul 2012
After the hotel changed it's name for the second time in two years, I wasa little concerned some of the standards would have slipped along the way but thankfully not. The hotel looks great, as do the rooms. The drinks in the bar were good if rather expensive. The only doenside wass the painful 6 phone calls I made trying to arrange three seperate rooms on three sperate bookings, so that we could stay in adjacent rooms. They got two of us together, but not the third. That aside, I would highly reccommend.
