Came to see the Pasadena Design Showcase house in Arcadia and attend the Do Dah parade. The suite was clean and well decorated. Two TV's and such. Nice. The Breakfast was well stocked and plentiful.

Disaster stay
I stayed for 3 nights at the end of March with my wife. We booked the standard room and found that it only had a small bed. OK, maybe I didn't read the room description very carefully, but every hotel I've been to had the choice of two double beds or a king bed. Not this one. And there are only two such rooms per floor - and they are at the corner (more below). Then we found the air conditioner was too loud, so we had to turn it off at night. But the air conditioners in the next room(s) were still too loud. It almost sounded like there was a construction site outside (and that was exactly what I thought until in the morning I found that was not the case). But compared to the next two nights, that was nothing. In the next two nights, there was a crazy woman (and probably a less crazy man) kept talking loudly somewhere in the hotel after midnight. I could not hear clearly but she seemed to be screaming, shouting, arguing with someone else in the same room. That went on and on as if she didn't need to sleep. I thought the whole hotel would hear that. Surprisingly, when I complained to the front desk the next morning they told me nobody did (I am not sure I'd believe him/her). And they didn't do anything about except telling the night patrol to pay attention (I don't think they tried enough). In the end, I got some 1000 Holiday Inn points out of it, but the experience was a disaster.

comfort away from home
Room was clean and comfy. Continental Breakfast was more then you would normally expect. Staff was polite and offered bottled water on arrival and departure. Plenty of parking.

Super pleasant experience!
Although we were in the area to visit someone in Hollywood, we chose Pasadena to escape some of the hub-bub of the city. The location of the Holiday Inn Express, Pasadena, was conveniently located (an easy drive to Hollywood), and the city was much nicer than many in the area. We are accustomed to staying in nice hotels when we take vacations, and often opt for less expensive hotels for quick trips (which this was), so we weren't sure exactly what these accomodations would be like since it is hard to trust internet sites. Previous to this experience, I thought of the "Express" versions of Holiday Inn as less than a full fledged hotel, but that was not at all the case here. Upon our arrival after a long day's drive, we were greeted by a professional, friendly, courteous staff. Following check-in, we were offered ice cold bottles of water, which were welcomed refreshment. The room was clean. The beds were very comfortable and our pillows included choices of "firm" or "soft" which provided relief to my chronically achy neck. Interior access to the rooms helped create a quiet atmosphere. Breakfast included excellent coffee, warm cinnamon rolls, fresh pancakes, bacon, eggs, biscuit & gravy, fresh fruit and juices and much more. It was a nice change from the usual cold pastries and cereal provided at most hotel's continental breakfasts. Apples and little sweet treats were available around the clock in the lobby. Each morning, a complementary newspaper was also available. Computers were conveniently located in the lobby, and the room not only had free Wi-Fi, but a surge protected power strip. Throughout our stay the staff continually showed professionalism. They greeted me each time I passed by, checked in with me to ensure I was having a positive experience, and offered assistance any time they saw that something might be needed. We will definitely return to this hotel when we need a place to stay in the Los Angeles area, and will recommend it to friends and family!

Will definitely come back
My daughter is a student at Caltec and this is the hotel we use whenever we visit her at Pasadena. I have been here 3 times already. It may not be a fancy place but it has everything that you would need, free breakfast, free wifi, gym and a pool. I will definitely come back whenever I visit my daughter.
