Very, very nice stay
Two New York couples on vacation and researching real estate property for relocation/retirement. The Dana was a fantastic location to use as a base. The resort site exceeded expectations. Very secure and mellow atmosphere. The Blue Pearl Restaurant... excellent food, drink, service, and prices! The Firefly and poolside food & drink on the expensive side. Both the bayside & tropical pools were great! The satellite reggae music mix & marina vistas at the bayside pool totally enhanced the vacation mood but often difficult to find chairs around this pool in late afternoons. The seemingly non-existent "fitness center" had only one partially functioning cycle machine and one stairmaster tucked away by the tropical pool. As far as off-site, it seemed that everything (local shopping, public beaches, major attractions, etc.) were all within 10 - 20 minutes driving time including downtown San Diego locales. Overall, both couples would not hesitate in returning to The Dana on Mission Bay.

Beautiful but Busy place
The Dana's rooms for perfect, the location was perfect, and the view is spectacular. The downfall was we went their to celebrate our 25th Anniversary and we wanted quiet, & serene and what we didnt know was this is a very popular place for weddings, that was not disclosed and there were 2 weddings and 2 rehersals right underneath us both nights so when we wanted to enjoy our balcony with the great view, we had 100 people staring at us. With the weddings came alot of people and alot of parking problems. If we had known this was a place that was popular for weddings we would have gone somewhere much more quiet. The location was just where we wanted to be though.

Great place to stay while in San Diego.
The Dana offers a great location right on Mission Bay near the coast within close proximity of Ocean, Mission and La Jolla beaches. The staff at the hotel from the front desk down to the maid services were very polite and a pleasure in every possible way. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again in the future.

weekend get-away
decent rooms, great location, friendly
Our plan was to spend the weekend relaxing and exploring the San Diego area - we checked in late (late flight) and the staff was very accomodating and friendly. I suppose the one complaint was that the building/ room numbers are not very well lit (marked?) so it was hard to tell which building was ours at first - the rooms were clean and well appointed (big TV, many pillows/towels) etc.. but they did seem a little dated? Our room looked over the pool - which was pretty ... but then there is a bit of noise from children and people at the pool... not intolerable.. but there is noise. I imagine it would be quieter bay-side. Both resturaunts were very nice - we only ate at the Pearl for breakfast - but the food was great, and service was very good. It was really close to Mission beach - and a short drive to PB and San Diego city (just down RT5) - I suppose my only suggestion would be to have a cafe or a place to pick up a cup of coffee in the morning.. Other than that it was really a nice place to stay. I imagine it would be fantastic for families...

Just down Mission Bay drive in Pacific Beach - there is a resturaunt/lounge called Jordan - We didn't get the chance to eat there - although I heard the food is fantastic - but the scene was modern and sleek - service great - and the view was perfect for a sunset

SOOO relaxing!
We were so pleased with the 'resort' type feel of this hotel. We stayed in the older 2 story side and loved it! The room was very comfortable and quiet. We would stay again in a heartbeat!

We went during baseball season and saw a Padres game. Petco Park was awesome and so much fun. We would also recommend walking the boardwalk which is just 2 miles from the hotel. There were great restaurants and great people watching while getting in a good walk and/or bike ride!
