pleased with the hotel and room....

I was very pleased with the location, service room at the hotel. A negative is the valet parking because of limited parking in the downtown area. Be prepared to pay $28.00 for the valet service.

Wonderful!

I'm extremly picky when it comes to hotels, but I have nothing bad to say about this remarkable hotel. Wonderful staff at check in, wonderful valet, and bellboy. The rooms were a bit on the small side, but the WONDERFUL beds made up for them. We were on a 10 day roadtrip and these were the most comfortable beds we had. The decoration and ammenities are modern and wonderful. I loved the showers... wonderful restaurant on site as well, the waiter there was the best I've ever had and I've eaten at the best restaurants around the world. Great location. I recommend to anyone and will not stay anywhere else in San Diego.

Nice boutique hotel

Very nice hotel. Room was small, but well appointed and very clean. Hotel is in good location, walking distance to Gas Lamp district and tons of restaurants and shops, as well as the convention center. Only five minutes to the airport! Only negative is they don't have a parking lot, so all vehicles are valet parked for $28/day. If you don't need to drive much, take a cab to and from the airport and walk!

Great Hotel for the $$$

The Sophia Hotel was a GREAT place to stay. The staff was friendly and the rooms nice. The rooms are small but they are cozy, clean and well decorated. My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights here and loved it. You are a short walking distance from Seaport Village, Horton Plaza & all the bars & restaurants in the Gaslamp Quarter. For the money this was a great find. The only thing that we disliked was the parking. We will definately return to The Sophia.

Great place!

The room was on the small side but very nice! The linens were quality and the decor was very streamline and up to date. Bathroom was large and had a nice vanity. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant because it was too pricey, but it looked like a nice place. Staff was very friendly and polite, valet service was fast but expensive. I would definitely stay again.

A Chic Boutique Hotel

The Sofia Hotel is as modern and chic as its name. The lobby is an elaborate atmosphere of a spa, providing guests ice water with wedges of oranges. They also provide complimentary Internet service in the Business Center for convenient research of Things to do in San Diego for those who do not own an iPhone yet. Each room comes with a mini fridge, microwave, and the most plush bath towels that can wrap you up like a bathrobe. The location was excellent as we were in walking distance of the whole of Gamlamp Quarter where are the shops, restaurants, and bars are located. The only complaint I have is small: At one time the front desk ladies were too wrapped up in their own private conversation and left me standing and waiting for help for a minute or two.

Good value but paper-thin wall!

This hotel has very good location, good price but the wall is way too thin. I can easily hear anything happening in the room next to me.

Fantastic location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had friends in Coronado, and our hotel was about an 8 block walk to the ferry to Coronado and even closer to the train on which we traveled to San Juan Capistrano. The room was small, but very comfortable. We were only there to sleep and shower. Coffee shop next door was great!
