Would stay here again
I was there for the Annual ADA conference. Although the hotel was somewhat far from the convention center, it was a nice walk through downtown San Diego and the hotel was close to all the shopping, dining and entertainment venues as well as to the bayfront. The rooms were clean and the staff were VERY hospitable. Did not eat at the the hotel though, too pricey.

Great Staff But Furniture Stained/Shabby
Staff was wonderful. However furniture was stained and getting shabby, Close to Gaslight area and convention center - about a fifteen minute easy walk. Hotel charged a $15 per night telecommunications fee and would have considered staying elsewhere if I had known.

Wonderful hotel
I was there for family and have been to San Diego many times. The hotel has very large rooms, clean, friendly staff, and very nicely situated right near (but not in) the Gaslamp District and across the street from Horton Shopping and a 15 minute walk to the pier.

Wonderful experience!
The hotel and staff were great! The hotel is beautiful, just like the pictures show. Very clean, it seemed like they cleaned our room every time we left the hotel (multiple times a day)! I am only giving it 4 stars because there was a $15 fee a day for 4 bottles of water, internet, and fitness center. Also, the parking is $32 a night.

Loved it!
We loved The Westgate. The hotel itself is really charming, clean and the lobby smells wonderful. Location is perfect - right on the edge of the GasLamp District, and within easy walking distance of Little Italy and the Harbour. Hotel staff is very nice, organized and professional, and the concierge made wonderful recommendations for restaurants, sightseeing and transportation. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The only drawbacks were the $15/day charge for internet access and use of the in-room coffee/tea supplies, and we could hear music playing around midnight on Sat. (not sure if it was from in the hotel or from a nearby club), but it didn't go on for much more than an hour and wasn't terribly disturbing. Having said that though, we will definitely stay at the Westgate again as it was such a nice hotel and ideally located for us.

Lovely Hotel
GREAT experience. Very old fashioned but that was exactly what we were looking for. LOVELY lobby. I highly recommend staying for Easter and making reservations for Easter Brunch... all you can eat champagne and caviar plus crab legs, shrimp, prime rib, omelets, crepes... Great upgraded room. Parking is a little overpriced. Printing my airline check-in from the business center was a issue. No pool ;(
