Sophistication with an Asian flair and an indoor pool near Union Square

Hotel Nikko feels more like Hong Kong than San Francisco. The lobby is spacious and stark, and rooms are minimalist in design. The on-site restaurant, Anzu, serves up Asian food with a Japanese focus. Distances at the on-site pool are measured in meters. Just steps from Union Square and the Moscone Convention Center, the Nikko is perfectly located for business travelers in town for conventions. At the same time, it is comfortable for families accustomed to sophisticated luxury.

Highlights
  • Live jazz at the Rrazz Room
  • A short walk from the shops and restaurants of Union Square
  • Spacious fifth-floor indoor pool
  • Sushi and other Asian-inspired fare available at on-site restaurant Anzu

Dining

Hotel Nikko in San Francisco is great!

The staff was excellent. Very accomodating and helpful and attentive to parents travelling with a 7 month old. The rooms were clean and with great views of the city. Lots of parking and lots to do within walking distance.

Comfortable bed with inviting atmosphere

The bed was extremely comfortable, the room promoted extreme relaxation. Anzu was delightful. Everything was perfect, except that the tile at the pool room was really slippery and my key demagnetized three times during my stay.

Excellent

Hotel nikko was excellent! Our room was very nice and clean and exactly what we expected. The location was great and convienient and close to just about everything. When traveling back to San francisco we will absolutely stay there again! Our only complaint were the pillows were just too big and puffy, I'll bring my own from home next time :p

Worth the money

This hotel is perfectly placed in the Union Square area of downtown San Francisco. The lobby and restaurants of this hotel are very high class. The rooms are a little small, and the furniture is a bit old. The bathrooms in the rooms are huge though, with a separate shower and tub and seated mirrored area for women to apply makeup. It was definitely the highlight of the stay. The elevators were also very nice. Overall, you definitely get the 4 star feeling when you stay at Nikko and feel like high society when you stay, but it's probably time for them to replace some furniture in the rooms.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The Powell St BART (subway) station is only 3 small city blocks from the hotel and takes less than 30 minutes from the SFO terminal. Once at the hotel, you can take Muni, BART, or cable cars to almost every tourist attraction in the Bay Area. Parking is very difficult, so you may consider not renting a car and using public transportation for your stay.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

your hotel is close to everything but I chosed to stay in our room and not to do anything (mind you I love to shop)because I just want to spend my time in the cozziness of the bed and the quietness of the room.
