great location for the price
We travelled to the wineries north; Malibu south. We enjoyed the closeness of the ocean and harbor. We were disappointed that the hotel was out of coffee for our room all week.

Disappointing
I got to my room and my key didn't work. I finally got let into my room by housekeeping, and the door wouldn't deadbolt. When I went to the front desk to request a room change, the receptionist gave me attitude. I think a room that locks is a pretty reasonable request! When I finally got to my room, I found that it wasn't airconditioned. I somehow managed to book the only hotel in California without air conditioning. The walls were also thin, and the matress lacking. The good points of the hotel are 1)it's located literally across the street from the beautiful beach and 2) a short cab ride (I think $8) from downtown. Overall, I would recommend looking elsewhere first.

ditsy staff
Wrong kind of room assigned to us, despite the fact that we called twice to confirm details about the room. In response, night staff suggested originally that our adult son be given blankets to sleep on the floor. Second room was double booked - the other party unlocked our door at 3 am and then proceeded to loudly fight about their situation for two more hours. Free breakfast room was understaffed - practically bedlam trying to self serve the continental breakfast. Ended up being credited with one night's stay, so the day manager, [...], tried to compensate us for the unpleasant welcome.

Wish we could get our money back!
The hotel room that the front desk agent claimed to be a favorite was on the ground floor looking at a staircase which was very loud. The room itself was smaller then a college dorm room. It was NOT what we expected for the price we paid. Very disappointing!

romantic weekender
Perfect location, great staff,drab hotel
The hotel is in the perfect location. A block from State Street and across from the harbor. The harbor is not great for swimming however. But there are volleyball courts, kayaks, and jet skis. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are very cute, well decorated. A little stinky. Very thin walls. I woke up from our neighbors' alarm that was set to vibrate. And I'm not a light sleeper! The pool was always too crowded to look tempting. That was a let down since we picked this hotel for the pool. There are many other hotels near by without a pool that are cheaper. This hotel was way WAY over priced.

DID NOT LIKE THE SIZE OF THE ROOMS
WE BOOKED A QUEEN ROOM. THE ROOM WAS ABOUT 10 BY 10..THE BATHROOM WAS THE SMALLEST BATHROOM I WAS EVER SEEN.

Hotel Oceana Santa Barbara
The hotel is in a great location, just down from the pier, and restaurants, and right across the street from the beach. The hotel charges $10.00 for parking which was not disclosed when booking the room. The room was nice and very clean, however, the grounds are a bit noisy. Very easy (compared to other hotels) to hear other guests in their room as well as people walking by your room. The hotel grounds keeper was even doing work right outside the room very early in the morning.

Relaxing weekend getaway
Very nice hotel. Hotel staff wanted to make sure we were comfortable. Enjoyed a wine tasting and band, outside, in the late afternoon. Lovely, (but crowded) continental breakfast in the AM. Overall, a very good experience!
