Hotel Oceana Santa Barbara

Would have enjoyed ourselves except for the fact that our room was just a little bit larger than a walk in closet. Our room seemed to be an after thought that was converted from who knows what at the last minute.The walls were paper thin, and we could hear the people above us and next to us all night.I know this was Santa Barbara, but for the price we were very disapointed.

The location of the Hotel was great. Unfortunately, it was very warm even though we were at a beach location. The Hotel informed us there was no air conditioning. The only problem in order to get air you had to open the window and that did not feel very safe to leave it open when we were out or sleeping. The carpet was very stained. The continental breakfast was lovely, they did a nice job. I was disappointed, I expected the Hotel to be like their Santa Monica location. We also ran out of hot water on the first shower.

Hotel room small and small windows; room no view; hot - no air conditioner; low value for cost; asked about moving to another room would have cost over 300 per night...would not go back.. no transportation options other than costly cab. Staff okay but not overly helpful.

Hotel Oceana is located across from the harbor, beach, and pier, and within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. That's the best thing that can be said about the place. The room I occupied in this cheaply updated old hotel, charming as it no doubt once was, had no chair or desk (a real negative for someone on business). The room was next to the utility closet, the door to which seemed to be opening and closing all day long, with a succession of towel carts rolling by at regular intervals. The showerhead dripped night and day. The tile shower was moldy; one of the hinges on the shower door was encrusted with mold. The ancient wall heater sounded like an F-16 taking flight. I had the misfortune to be in Santa Barbara during Southern California's severe storms, and a heater was necessary. I spent much more time in the room than I would have if the weather had been better, and so the room's problems probably were more annoying than might otherwise be the case. However, the grounds were lovely even in the torrential rains. The continental breakfast was excellent--lots of variety (abundant toast, fruit, muffins, hot and cold cereal, coffee, juice, milk, etc.) and ample seating. I gave it one star only because Hotel Oceana needs something far more than "something special." It needs cleanliness and some consideration of the purpose of a visit.

We went to get away and enjoy Santa Barbara. The hotel had a wedding party right next door and didn't tell us. They actually recommend our room for being quite. Second night 8 girls partied all night in the next room awful, paper thin walls, tiny room

This applies to Rm 243. There was literally 2 feet either side of the bed. 3 feet at the end of the bed. There was no room for a closet - it consisted of a rod suspended from the ceiling by 2 pieces of wire. If I could post pictures on this site, I would. The hotel should be ashamed of itself for having the audacity to sell this room at any price, and especially at the price I paid.

The hotel staff was friendly but the facility was old and the room and the bathroom was very small, not worth the money.

WE BOOKED A QUEEN ROOM. THE ROOM WAS ABOUT 10 BY 10..THE BATHROOM WAS THE SMALLEST BATHROOM I WAS EVER SEEN.

The hotel room that the front desk agent claimed to be a favorite was on the ground floor looking at a staircase which was very loud. The room itself was smaller then a college dorm room. It was NOT what we expected for the price we paid. Very disappointing!

Things that did not work: tv,lock,toilet,heater,even the light bulbs were out. NOISY! Cops were called to room next door after a loud all night party. We used the wine glass for a drink of water , we were charged for that. Need 24 hours maintenance people. Way to expensive for what you get. Location was perfect but every else was unacceptable.
