Bad experience
Even though hotel claims recent remodeling, still the Beds and pillows were so old that first night we tried to sleep on floor. It was worse.Second night we found out that to use the bed,you should sleep sideways. We put a few towels inside the pillow case, to be able to use the pillows...They had no better or newer pillows. Also when we arrived, they did not have our reservation made with [...]weeks ago.Room was noisy too. Very thin walls.Overall, we will avoid this hotel at all costs.

Not what I was expecting
The hotel was old and even though the walls had been recently papered and painted, the important structural things had not been updated. Moldy old tile and bath fixtures (smelled the room), popcorn over the cracked ceilings, broken too-small ceiling fan, no air conditioning, wall paper peeling off walls in bathroom from insufficient fan... the list is long. Additionally the amenities where poor as well; torn bedskirt, no coffee in room, no shampoo/conditioner or bath gel, no in room safe, no comfortable chair to relax on. Our room was supposed to be a 'garden view' but that turned out to be a view of a parking lot and the backside of another tall building; the only 'garden' was a bougainvillea growing on a shed. The staff was very friendly and wonderful, but the hotel was more of a 1 star motel with a nice paint job.

Soccer tournament stay
Our family stayed at this hotel for a soccer tournament. The location was nice and so was the valet man. The hotel is very quiet and the guests are on the elderly side, which tend to get annoyed with children. The hotel seems to support the majority of their clients. If you are traveling with children, I do not rrecommend this hotel! The continental breakfast was horrible and their is no air conditioning in the rooms and the elevator doesn't work. For the money there are definitely better options!

Nice Hotel, needs some amenities....
We were disappointed that there wasn't a restaurant in the Hotel, the pictures on the web site, clearly show one. When you're spending a romantic weekend with your wife, room service sure would help. This hotel doesn't have that either. The room was lovely, however we were originally given a room on the first floor, at the end of the hotel which we didn't feel was very safe. When we changed rooms it was not comprable to what we had reserved. Very disappointing!!!!

Get Away
We decided to getaway for a few days and chose Santa Barbara Inn. The hotel was very nice, good service staff, rooms are nice size and continental breakfast very good. However, rooms are extremely noise from the street traffic and there was no air conditioning which made it very stuffy in the rooms.

Basic and Practical - not Luxurious
3.5 Stars to be fair. The Good: 1) Breakfast was great, simple but well stocked! 2) The king room is pretty spacious. 3) Check in/out was very quick. 4) Cross the road and you are walking along the ocean. 5) Comfortable bed. 6) Complimentary water in the refrigerator (This earned them half a star) 7) All other expected basics were present e.g. enough towels, flat screen T.V and remote that worked, EXCELLENT water pressure. The Bad: 1) I didn't sleep well! I booked an ocean view room but that came with traffic noise from the main street (I think it's called Cabrillo Blvd.) Shutting the patio door didn't help much. The hotel is a 4 storey structure, I believe, and the guest in the room above our 2nd floor room was very restless - dragging something across the floor or something. Front desk told me there was no other room available. The room did not smell fresh - kind of a mouldy, stale smell. Probably coz the structure is old? I don't know. 2) $7 for valet parking - but what you are actually paying for is a spot to park your car for the night. My car was actually parked 50 feet from the valet stand. Great value, huh? 3) The front desk staff were not unpleasant but they weren't particularly friendly. Not your typical service with a bright smile reps. A smile and making an effort to have a great attitude go a long way, in my opinion. Overall, for the right price, I would stay here again but in a room facing away from Cabrillo blvd. Everything else close to the beach was either a motel (the word motel puts me off) or about $100 more expensive. PS: I am not super picky but I appreciate having the basics (e.g. a room that smells fresh). Luxury is a great plus and well, The Santa Barbara Inn did not surprise me with any - I am not complaining - just saying :-) Oh, the hot water in the shower was oh! so hot :-) I wish the bathroom was bigger, so you don't step out of the shower and are standing 1 or 2 feet from the toilet.
