Great location
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and spotless, housekeeping took great care of them. We were there for a total of 3 nights and wanted for nothing. We had a later flight on our last day and we received a late check out when inquiring about storing our luggage. It overall was a pleasant experience and added to the quality of the vacation.

Monumental Hotel
Friendly, helpful staff all around. Beautiful hotel that makes you feel like the President. (Two blocks from the White House). Food and bar was great and the proximity to monuments, Smithsonian etc just couldn't be better. My wife and I travel up from Sarasota occasionally to visit DC-area friends and family. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Great location, overpriced food
Front staff was NOT friendly - I don't think our check-in lady smiled once. Didn't feel welcome at all. But the location (a block from the White House) was wonderful, and the room was clean and relaxing. We got the package where the kids eat free in one of their 2 restaurants - NOT WORTH IT! [...]

Kids eat free package was not worth it for us - spent more money for the adults to eat than it would have been to take all 5 of us somewhere else. Also -- street parking is almost impossible, and valet parking at the hotel is $39 a day. We found a parking garage a block away that was $23, so we did that (weekend parking even cheaper in the parking garages).

Great location
We went to all the museums, monuments, and federal buildings. Because of the close proximity to all these locations, the walk was never too far and the cab ride wasn't too expensive. The JW Marriott is a beautiful hotel. The rooms were comfortable and spotless. Everyone working there were vey friendly and helpful.

My awesome(educational) vacation
Travelled with wife and kids and arrived early and staff accomadate me with a room with a partial view of the Washington Monument. They quickly responded to fix a clog in the bathtub. Complimentary fruits were available at the pool area. The hotel was very quiet, peaceful and clean.The staff were very helpful and assisted us with everything from providing a list of restaurants to storing our luggage for several hours at hotel until our departure to airport for evening flight.

Short walk from hotel
Take the DC Trolley everywhere,it makes stops every 15 to 30 minutes. You can also walk but if you are going to walk make sure you take good walking shoes. Also, try not to take kids under 12 years old if, you are planning on going to every museum because they will drive you crazy. Make sure you pack a rain coat because you never know when it's going to pour. (It happened to us)We got drenched in the middle of what started off as a sunny day. OH! one more thing at the Lincoln Memorial make sure you go to the bathroom(to the right)at the bottom of the stairs, there is an exihibit section next to it which does not have any signs for vacationers to know that it is there. !!!Just have an awesome time!!

Hotel was gorgeous, but a few surprises
this hotel was beautiful, clean and upclass. It was nice to be right around all the sites. I did not know I had to pay to park the car at the hotel and it was steep at 42.00 a day. that pretty much took care of the savings I got on the room itself.

Great location!
We were in DC for a casual, touristy weekend. The location of the JW Marriott was perfect - close to the White House, monuments, Smithsonian, tour buses. The hotel was clean, well decorated and had both a lounge to start or wind down the evening and a casual restaurant for breakfast or a good dinner if you do not want to go out. Starbucks and a gift shop with beverages and toiletries conveniently on site.
