"NEVER GOING AGAIN"

It was terrible because a family of 4 had to sleep in 1 king sized bed. And when we requested 2 twin bed rooms. The staff said that since we were [...] customers we could not have the 2 twin bed room. The staff told us that we could cancel the stay. And we agreed but then they told us that whey would Not give our money back. They said that the customers of [...] are their least priority. So we stayed there, they put us in a room for handicapped. There was no bathtub but just a shower. So we did Not Enjoy the stay. [...]The people at the front desk were really unkind. So I am going to tell everyone that I know that [...] and Marriott are not the best choice. It was a misery that we chose [...] and Marriott.

Mediocre all around

Service was slow and rude from every department from checkin to wait staff in lounges and valet was always a 30-40 minute wait for car. Large group event at hotel that was extremely noisy until the late hours of the morning in both the hallways, lots of loud and intoxicated people wandering halls yelling after 1am and ballroom was blaring loud music until 1am. We were on the second floor. It was likely not so bad if you were on an upper floor. Hotel team did nothing about any aspect of our stay, no relocation to another room, no service improvement was offered and no attempt was made to produce customer satisfaction in any way. I will never stay at this hotel again. The said they were fully booked sorry! This hotel had no redeeming features except for close to the Whitehouse if you are on vacation.

uncomfortable and pretentious

The mattresses were the worst imaginable. The hot water was intermittent. The lobby was a zoo with marble floors. The parking was a nightmare. never again.

Great Location!

If you are looking for a place to stay with a GREAT location this would be a good choice. One block from the White House and easy walking distance to everything else. Room was very small. Pool area was in need of updating. Fitness room was very good. As far as JW's go this is probably one our there lower tier properties. My advice would be to take advantage of the stay for breakfast special if available (save yourself $60 a morning for breakfast). Overall, a good stay. If you are looking for a high end 4 or 5 star hotel, this would not be it. If you are looking for a place to stay that is in the middle of everything, this would be worth you consideration.

Take advantage for the "stay for breakfast" deal if you are able to. Breakfast buffet is very good, but it is expensive. A family of 4 would cost about $60.

Great location, so-so service

The good: location can't be beat. Our room had a fabulous view of the WA monument, Penn. Ave., the old post office, etc. Really nice. The fitness facilities are very nice. The not so good: service was poor. Checkin was slow (not enough folks at the counter), the concierge was unhelpful, calls to the desk with questions about checkout and cabs were unfriendly. I think they charged me for simply opening the refrigerator. Yes, you read that right.

Wonderful, yet small

The JW is beautiful inside the lobby, rooms and restaurants. It's massive in size, has a pool that serves the children well. The size of the room was incredibly small though for the price we paid for such a high-end hotel for a 3 night stay with 2 children. We requested 2 double beds, were told they would accomodate us over the phone, but then were denied the 2 beds at check-in! They gave us 2 roll-out beds which took up the small space we already lost. Tight corners at such an incredible price is no joke with 4 people on vacation. Couldn't check-in until 4:00 either..

THE worst customer service EVER!

I checked in for a conference on a Friday evening. The man who attended me and checked me in was THE MOST RUDE person ever. He didn't give me a receipt when I checked in, he kept asking me the same questions repeatedly, and when I asked for a late check out the next day because the conference ended after 12 he said, "Sure, it will be an additional $125 and we can charge that to your room right now" Excuse me? Since when does 2 additional hours constitute nearly half a room stay? And what type of establishment does that? I am very disappointed in the accommodations and service. I am also very surprised because Marriotts are generally great hotels. Needless to say, don't stay here.

Convenience

We stayed six days at the JW while in DC to see the sights of our nations capital. The hotel staff was always friendly and helpful. The convenience of its location to all of the sights in the DC area make it a great place to stay in the city if you choose to be without a car. Room was very adequate.

Small rooms and very noisy

The hotel was nice, but the noise from the street was very loud and the room was very small. The bathroom was VERY small and not comfortable for a family. The staff were great. We chose this hotel because it was within walking distance to the White House, but there were not many restaurants and shops around it.
