Dining

international lounge
The keynote of the international is the feeling of grown-up glamour and sophistication that reigned throughout the Kennedy years - the golden age of All-American-Style; full of promise and ambition. This is not Austin Powers or Warhol Pop. Think Babe Paley; think dressed up, crisp clothed jet-setters and kings of commerce enjoying a classic champagne cocktail, nibbling an elegant snack, while engaging in intense flirtation and conversation into the wee hours - after all one can always stay over.
No. 10 Thomas
No. 10 Thomas offers Contemporary American cuisine and the perfect ambience for any meal. Watch the "Early birds" at Logan Circle in the morning, sunbathers taking a dip in our pool after lunch, or the sunset over National City Christian Church in the evening. Sip a Glass of Champagne or enjoy a cocktail by candle light on our Poolside terrace and make a wish while counting the shooting stars over Washington D.C.

Great Location for the price

Superb Location. I walked to most of the main attractions in 15 minutes and enjoyed my visit to washington primarily due to this hotel location. For the money you pay the returns one get to me appeared excellent. The hotel is clean, rooms are sufficiently big and tidy and bathrooms are clean. The hotel front reception area appeared dull and very unattractive

Inexpensive Decent Hotel -great location

The walls are freshly painted but its as if the entire hotel was in primer. The desk outfit was old and uncomfortable. However, the hotel is in a great location, and has wonderful staff!

It was okay

The location of this hotel was good, being only a few blocks from all of the tourist attractions. The hotel itself was okay. The walls are pretty thin so it was easy to hear other rooms. The hotel was fairly clean, but very Spartan. The room was somewhat small and had the feel of a college dorm room. I thought the price was a little steep for what we got, but I can't say it was a bad experience. I would probably pick a different hotel next time.

just okay

The hotel was convenient a d clean. Some of the staff were curtious and helpful, but a few were a little curt. The atmosphere was rather cold, as opposed to friendly and quaint.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

No decent coffee in hotel to bring to room. Breakfast was expensive, and it was a fairly long walk to find a decent place.

Good value in great location

This hotel has a great location, relatively close to the Metro, and the White House. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, and it's a safe neighborhood to be walking around anytime of the day or night. The hotel's common areas, the restaurant, bar, and lobby are modern and clean. However the room my wife and I had could use a makeover. The furniture was from the early 80's. The room was a single king bed "suite", basically two standard rooms with a wall removed. A very odd layout with the TV on a low dresser that divided the sleeping area from the couch. Overall it was a very good value, almost 30% less than other hotels in the same area.

Not bad, but nothing special ...

I stayed at the Washington Plaza while attending a conference at the nearby Washington Convention Center. The hotel is just a quick 10-15 minute walk from the convention center (or a $4-5 cab ride). The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful every time I had occasion to interact with them and the pool area is resort-quality. The hotel is located on Thomas Circle, which is a high traffic location. The traffic noise was a distraction at times, although it tapered off noticeably at night and didn't keep me awake. If you're a light sleeper, request a room on the back or non-pool side of the hotel. The room was much smaller than what I'm used to seeing at a business-class hotel (e.g. a Marriott), and the bed was only a Queen size. The room included a 19-inch non-HD/flat screen TV - the first time in 2 or 3 years that I've had a hotel room without an HDTV. I was only able to find one unused electric outlet in the room, which made charging computer, phone, etc. difficult without unplugging a lamp or two. The room did include a digital thermostat, allowing precise climate control in the room. Overall, the room fit more with a lower tier hotel/motel rather than a top quality business hotel in Downtown DC.

Good deal for its location

I've stayed at the Washington Plaza before and was happy with the experience so I re-booked. The staff are great, ther ooms clean, and all the amenities you'd expect. The only reason they didn't get 4 stars is because on the first night I was there, which was a Thursday, a party took place at the pool and the music was quite loud and I was on the far end of the hotel (away from where the party was taking place. I wouldn't have minded had a) this been a Friday or Saturday at least and b) if it hadn't gone until well past midnight (maybe even past 1 - I can't recall). So, call ahead perhaps if you are going to need to sleep at a 'normal' time and make sure they won't be having wild parties.

Central location, clean, services OK

Needed to make business arrangements in the area. Negatives: Room service in the hallway noisy (very loud). Blocked on a daily basis my door not allowing me to enter my room. Very unfriendly when I cleaning leadies to remove things, after kindly asked them to free my door to my room (vaccuum cleaner and cleaning trolly etc.). The same the next day. Roomservice goes screaming through the hall, knocking very loud and several times on the door daily around 5- 5.30 pm. Billing statement was wrong (two days parking plus taxes extra on bill), correction took 15-20 minutes. Had to free someone in basement, allowing her to leave the fitness area, the door was not opening from both sides. After 10 minutes it opened. Wake up call was not provided as requested. Positives: Food in bar, restaurant and room service, excellent. Clean room, updated design, clean bathroom, nice swimming pool, free wireless internet, generally friendly personel at reception Room had relatively large bathroom, seperate wc and shower. Good air conditioning (was up in the 100oF!)
