Ritz Carlton does not disappoint
Second time we have stayed here. Not the most luxurious of the Ritz properties but still lovely, fine for a long golf weekend. Terrific breakfast buffet. Golf course is an OK resort course, not world class but very enjoyable. First rate service and a very good value (we paid roughly $200 a night).

JD's Chophouse in Yulee. Chuck, the bartender is a very nice guy. Generally we find the food on Amelia Island to be pretty uninspired, this is a cut above.

Great Escape Destination
Every single staff member we encountered at this hotel was friendly and helpful and seemed intent on making certain that we enjoyed our stay. The first room we were given - -which was huge and tastefully decorated -- had an uneven mattress. We reported it to the check-in desk, and they moved us to another room immediately. As we were leaving the room, we saw a maintenance man on the way in to fix the problem before the next guest arrived. We tried the tasting menu at the restaurant one evening, and it rated among the best we've ever had in any gormet restaurant anywhere. It's a quiet place, though -- so if you're looking for lots of nightlife and activities, this isn't the place for you. It's best for those who just want to relax. We highly recommend this spot.

Beware of the Ritz!
This Ritz is good but not in keeping with what we expected. The one pool was standing room only for adults all seven days in August. We crept along the edge agog at parents throwing their children all around us; we dodged balls, bumped up against juniors riding huge plasic porpoises and slapping noodles like weapons. The baby pool was usually empty and kids w/diapers were in our pool. We asked and were told that all of this is allowed and there are no adult swims. There is a small adult pool you can pay $25/day to use or it's free if you get a spa tx for the day. The beach was mostly too hot but we did the best we could to use it to get breaks from the noise at the pool. Nice live music a few days (guitar)and a good bar, albeit pricey. We would not go back. Make sure the Ritz you visit is really the Ritz! We hear the one in Hawaii is lovely.

Service With A Smile
I have traveled extensively and I am very impressed with how courteous each and every person on staff was to me each and every day. How refreshing it was to see smiling faces and a greeting ALWAYS and from EVERYONE. Besides this, the accomodations were excellent; clean, attractive, tasteful decor, good dining, quiet, and an array of activites for the young and old!I have not stopped raving about the service and hotel itself. It was a wonderful experience!

The historic district is a short drive and although it only has but a few shops, the Espana restaurant was superb.
