BEST WESTERN PLUS Oceanside Inn

Hotel lobby is attractive but once you leave lobby BEWARE!! Hall carpet and walls are dirty and the place reaps of foul order. Smells like animal farm. Garbage cans in halls were running over with pizza boxes, fast food restaurant bags, beverage containers and all sorts of food leftovers. Room had been updated somewhat but didn't feel welcoming after walking from elevator to room and seeing the filthy carpets and walls-not to mention the food and the smell. This hotel charges a lot of money for rooms because of its location and because people going on cruises don't know better. It is worth paying more and checking into a nicer place where you don't mind paying the requested rate. Complimentary breakfast was okay. No transportation to and from hotel to airport. Taxi ride is approximately $20.00.

first it was the wrong hotel, it should have been the Bestwestern plus Oakland, with the tiki bar and the suite with whirlpool bath. the Best Western plus on seabreeze was dirty and we did not have a view of the pool or a deck above the pool as asked for. the staff except for the cleaning woman were totally rude and gave us incorrect directions consistantly. we had to pay for parking which is totally rude, since we are staying at that hotel. Oakland does not charge you. the air conditioner broke and i fixed it myself instead of waiting for them to get off their butts to do anything. this was the worst trip i have ever taken. i love Best Westerns and this is by far the worst i have ever stayed in. I cannot believe in total the rudeness we put up with. I will never go back ever!!!!! it should be its own country not affiliated with the us.. totaly angry and sucked it up for the kids. but you asked and your getting it.. it was miserable... I only want to thank my cleaning lady she was the only decent person i met...

The Best Western Oceanside was blocked from the beach by a large Sheraton Hotel. The front desk clerks were hospitable and the hotel maintenance was prompt. We parked in a garage with a lift gate entrance that used a special parking card. I paid an extra $10.50 for parking at the hotel x 2 days. The elevator is accessible from the parking garage. Sometimes the elevator was filled with hotel staff and laundry bins or housekeeping carts going to the basement. Waiting for the elevator was a hassle. When we got to our 3rd floor room, it was to the right of the elevator. My companions were already wheeling luggage down the hall when I realized where our room was. Best Western has views of the pool on one side and the Street on the opposite side and 4 rooms -2 on each side of the elevator . We had one of the rooms. The carpet was wet in the entire room. It must have been steam cleaned the same hour we checked in. The bathroom was nice, but there was no exhaust fan.

I like staying in smaller boutique style hotels and with a few changes this hotel could easily achieve this. The bedding needs to be upgraded as we found the pillows lumpy and this hotel was still using bed spreads and not the washable duvet covers which most hotels have gone on to use. I thought the lobby needed a new fresh look as well.

The hotel was next door to a hotel that was under constructsion/renovation. There rooms were fine as long as you are not staying on the north side of the complex.

The walk-to-the-beach location was as good as it gets. The included breakfast was terrific -- 2 or 3 classes above the usual soggy bagels and packaged blueberry muffins that you find in a hotel like this. The muffins and bagels were there, but so too were scrambled eggs, corned beef hash and waffles. But the rooms and public areas are in bad need of a spruce up. Old, tired, and musty are but a few of the adjectives that spring to mind.

The good: the room was clean. The bad: the halls, the walls, the carpeting reminded me of a dingy assisted living place. The ugly: smokers everywhere, and no one to clean up the ugly,butt-filled ashtrays around the pool from one day to the next.

The location is excellent, less than a 5 minute walk to the beach. However, even to stay in the room just to sleep it was uncomfortable. The hotel shows wear and tear of being old and in need of great repair desperately. I would not pay any more than $100 per night, even during the peak season to stay here. There seem to be only one person at the desk from late evening until morning and no one was available from housekeeping. I would not stay again given the condition of the overall building and rooms.

there was no air/ac in the hallways.they were hot.there was only one elev.working during our stay. the free breakfast was not what i had expected.did not like it at all.went out every day for breakfast. the room was comfortable & the fridge came in handy. it was very close to the beach which a big plus.

Overall , a comfortable stay. Hotel is older but had wireless internet and a computer for guests to use in the lobby. A small frig. ,microwave, coffee maker and safe were in the room. Outdoor swimmming pool on property outside the breakfast room. A nice tropical fish aquarium in the lobby. I disliked the parking situation which was tight and hard to pull in and out of the spaces, plus there was a daily fee for the parking added on to the bill.
