Higher Standards
deceptive deceptive deceptive deceptive
This is an ok hotel. The service was acceptable. The fanciness is basically a thin veneer. If you are used to reasonable quality like a nice Hyatt, double tree, or Hilton then you will be very disappointed. If you really want to go to Key West I suggest choosing a different and less expensive hotel. I saw a Marriott in Key West that would have been a better choice. On a side note, Key West is rather boring and full of red neck like people and red neck like entertainment. They have horrible beaches that are only about 3 feet in water depth and smell terrible. If you have higher standards, I suggest going somewhere else!

How to spoil a perfect location
Location is fantastic. The rooms and facilities are tired (looks like 1985 decor) But what was unacceptable was the staff service and attitude. At the restaurant we waited for our table for over half an hour while other diners were complaining bitterly about not getting the bills so they could leave. Upon leaving the hotel we had to wait for 20 minutes for our car (valet only you see). Three people told us the car is coming in 2 minutes only to discover the keys untouched on the counter 20 minutes later. When the car was eventually brought around the staff person said under their breadth "have a nice rest of your life" Travelled to many places in my life, never had such an experience

Disappointing Expensive Get Away
When I booked the room last minute, it was to join my sister and her boyfriend, and I decided to splurge and upgrade to the full ocean view. Upon check-in my room was on third floor, with more of a view of, and airshot of noise from Mallary Square, so I asked for a better view, removed from the noise from below. (My sister and her boyfriends room was supposed to be a point room where they should have had a view of the ocean and the gulf, which it did not). The rooms here are expensive, and I expected only the very best, and was extremely disappointed!!! I was moved to a room straight above on the same stack, on the fifth floor, and the view was definately what I had expected and paid for. The biggest problem here, when I was ready to retire, all of a sudden, there was a certain disturbance that occured, it seemed like from the room below, my bed actually felt like somehow it was on a massage option (my bed at home has that option), so I called the front desk and told them I did not know what it was, but it was disrupting me, and wondered if it was coming from below, maybe a fan. Sharon sends the Security Man, (of all things), to my room, and I ask him to sit on bed, he tells me he is "dirty" and refused to, although I told him he had my permission. Anyway, I did not sleep at all, because of it, and sometime after 6:00AM I finally nod off, have the DO NOT DISTURB on my door. Approximately 10:00AM, my phone rings. I check to see if it was my sister, which it wasn't. Then the phone rings again, this time, it's the Manager, and I get upset with him for disturbing me, although I did want to talk to him, I thought I could do that after I got SOME rest, and removed the DO NOT DISTURB...then on top of Not Sleeping, right outside my door, the maids, or whatever, are going back and forth with wheeled carts, on hard tile, which was VERY Noisy! Then to Top All of This, at 2:00PM (May 14th) they put this LOUD OBNOXIOUS COUPLE in the room next to me, and they start FIGHTING..from the minute they get to the room. I actually knocked on their door, and she tells me, she's loud..tough luck for me! He says he will call front desk, and I was hoping so they would be moved. They were not. I leave room, and when I get back, get ready for bed, lay my head down, and the couple start all over again with the fighting and yelling..I could NOT believe this was happening! I had complained numerous times with the front desk, told they would be called, and then I'm told by Sharon, that nothing is going on (this is after 11:00PM, and I tell her, then come in MY room and witness it first hand....SHE DID NOT EVEN COME TO MY ROOM! I end up calling my sister, who is on the third floor, with her boyfriend (it was his Birthday), and going DOWNSTAIRS to TRY to get some sleep in THEIR room. They had pulled out the sofa sleeper, and they actually gave ME the bed. I could NOT believe this was happening, at what I thought was a 5 star hotel. The manager had given me a credit for $150.00, which I used to buy the Birthday Dinner. The restaurant was nice, and the waitress did a great job, but at this point, all I can think, is I am having a Terrible Time, Greatly lacking Sleep! In the room, I was only provided amenities First night, (shampoo/conditioner), and they were never replenished. I had a terrible experience at this hotel, and was very insulted by the desk agent Sharon. I honestly feel I deserve a Full Refund from this Hotel, and although I can afford to, would Never consider staying at this Hotel/Resort, EVER again. They need to retrain their agents, in Customer Service! They kept telling me the hotel was completely sold out, so I could not be moved to a different room. The credit from the Manager does nothing to get rid of the bad experience here. I Had A Terrible Experience! and would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Date of stay; May 13-15 2012

Great rooms with to much noise
The room and staff were great, but the exterior noise and the occasional fire alarm at 6AM were a bother. Do not think I made it past 7AM once on my vacation as you can hear everything going on in the street, from truck deleiveries to people talking. Room was very clean and comfortable, location on Duval was superb. However, once you have been down Duval once there is no need to do it again. Spa Terre was totally overpriced and the whole area from food to snorkeling seems like a tourist trap with nothing more to offer than shabby food and over priced drinks. Room service at the Ocean Key was great and I recommend Prime 951 for steaks. Other than that, not the best time on record. Pool is small, hotel is loud (and being renavated).

Stay to Play
Very, Very close to the action, this is not the location for peace and quite.. construction on Malorey Square, and two noisy leased boat slips to the FURY crew, makes this the all time noise location in Key West. The Best Rooms have top exposure to these noise factors. All Staff displayed the "Key West" no worries way of life, and service well lets just say it's not The Ritz..... The parking incurs a $20 daily charge,(hidden charge) not worth it, the cigar someone left on my bumper will cost me. The price point on this stay was way high for the value of goods and services received.

Could have been better.
In order of increasing annoyance. The elevator next to our room did not work. Being on the 3rd floor made it tolerable using the stairs but any higher in that heat would be different. The room had no drawers to unpack out belongings. Living out a suitcase for 4 days was a bit difficult. The pool although eventually our favorite spot was unavailable for the first day and a half due to the construction on the pier next door. Crane with power piston was driving pier anchors making the noise unbearable. Finally after repairing a slat on the bed twice myself (probably should have called the first time), it completely collapsed in the middle of the night. We were placed in the room next door for the rest of the night and the problem was fixed the next day. The issues were presented to the front desk at checkout and they of course gave me an apology. I think it will be easy to give another resort a chance next time. Which there will be, because Key West was great.

Overpriced
The hotel is dated with room furnishings in need of upgrade. As for location you are right at the sunset pier and mornings were nice on the balcony. Would stay again but not at the current rates.

OK but not Great
The bed was very comfortable and the hotel location was good. The shower/tub in our room had rotting trim wood, our car was damaged while being parked by the valet and the staff was not friendly. Overall it was not at all what we expected for the 4 star price we paid.

Mediocre
Location for this hotel was GREAT! Apart from that, it was average at best. An annoyance at worst. Last night there I realized the hotel room walls are pathetically thin since I was able to hear the arguments coming from my neighbors at 4am. Add to that the inconvenient lack of parking and overly convenient valet parking. What they don't or won't tell you is public parking is hidden in behind the hotel thru a dark alley. but it was right in the middle of absolutely EVERYTHING great about Key West.

Short drive from hotel
Skip the small booths advertising the tours for deep sea fishing just outside the hotel. Go directly to the city marina about a 5 minute drive and get a cheaper price directly from a boat captain.
