very unsafe!

The check in was a disaster! We travel at least 3 times a year, and we've always arrived earlier than our check in time. That has never been a problem for my wife or I. At this hotel not only would they not allow us to check in before 4pm (we arrived there at noon--after traveling for over 7 hours) They informed us that it would probably be AFTER 4pm. In the meantime we walked around the property and seeing all the empty units, waiting another 2 hours I went back into the office and complained--------I left the property to find a restaurant and a few minutes after our complaint they informed us that the room was ready. The staff was very rude and I would never go back there nor would I inform any of my associates to.

The whole neighborhood was very run-down. The restaurants available were not up to our standards. I did not feel safe at all.

Bugs Bugs Bugs

Upon arrival to Oak Plantation Villas Resort it took 20 minutes to find someone available to check me into my room. I arrived after hours, so this didn't bother me too much. When I arrived in my room, I was very impressed, everything was well decorated, appeared clean, I thought I had found a wonderful place to spend my vacation. I proceeded to the master bedroom, turned down the blankets, and low and behold, found not 1 but 2 bugs, hair, and blood in my sheets. I immediately notified the front desk clerk. Half an hour later, a gentlemen who did not speak english showed up at my door, handed me clean sheets and told me I had to make my own bed. No apology for the condition. The following morning I asked to see the manager, again no regret, but my room was adequately cleaned the next few days. That same morning I purchased theme park tickets from the lobby. This experience led to high pressure sales of the resort's timeshare program. When I made it clear I was not interested, the employees became rather rude. I do not recommend this resort, nor will I ever stay there again. The phrase you get what you pay for could not be more true in this case. I will pay to stay at a well known resort in the future.

The resort is located in the business district of Kissimmee, run down hotels, restaurants, and tourist traps line the street, it's also very close to the airport.

Avoid it like prison: Oak Plantation

The carpet and the couch was dirty dirty dirty. Small room. Very outdated. You get what you pay. But Great pool and great location. My advice: stay elsewhere.

Do not recommend location

Star rating per Orbitz is misleading promotion !!!! This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in; lack of customer service, poor upkeep of outside landscaping, etc.

Disappointing

Pros- I enjoyed the location, pool with a bar, and the resort grounds where peacocks and turtles roamed freely. All ladies that I talked to at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The resort offers shuttles to the major theme parks which limited my needs for driving. Cons - Housekeeping! I spent 8 days at the resort. There were days that housekeeping left no face towels, no dish towel, no dishwasher detergent and no coffee. My husband walked to the front office to get coffee at least 2 days because he didn't want to wait for someone to have to bring it to the room. One day, our room was not cleaned at all. The used towels and sheets were still in the bathtub (per housekeeping requirements) after we returned from a full day at the theme park. We called the front desk and left to go get something to eat. When we returned, someone dropped off a bag with towels and sheets for us to make our own bed. Ok, great. I get to spend vacation in a place that I paid for housekeeping, just to clean up myself. My biggest complaint was a big, plate sized stain on the top of the couch where your head would rest...i refused to sit on that couch. This place has so much potential if the resort would update the furniture, carpet, TVs (old tube tvs with a horrile picture) and housekeeping. Needless to say, I was very disappointed expecting a 3 star quality resort. This is definitely not a 3 star resort in this condition.

There is a great family owned Mexican restaurant, Vallerias, (i think) on the corner of Hoagland and Hwy 192 that has great food and is affordable.

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY!!!

The staff at Oak Plantation was HORRIBLE to say the least!! We will NEVER stay there again!! The room we received was NOTHING like what I paid for!! The carpet was filthy as was every room. The appliances did not work properly either. When we tried to check in, they GUARANTEED that the room would be ready by 4pm and we were still waiting at 5pm for our filthy room!! The property is nice and the pool is nice but that is it!!! The rest is SOOOO not worth the money!!!

Frustrating, disappointing stay

Understood had airport shuttle which was not the case. Had to pay $55 for cab. Arrived Tues. night and no WDW shuttles available at any time for Weds. Had to get rental car. Breakfast buffet very limited and bad. Didn't use fresh eggs for scrambled eggs. Some items in picture of buffet were not offered.

Value lodging

Though I-net access is listed, it is NOT available in the rooms. This was quiet a surprise for us and extremely frustrating. My wife likes to blog and wasn't able to post anything while we were there and I couldn't check my work e-mail. They do have intetnet access, just not in the rooms. You need to visit the Internet Cafe between 1 - 9 PM. The did have free pop and printing in there, but it didn't make up for not having it in the room. This is truly value lodging. Price was low and accomodations matched the price. This was not a great deal, like I was hoping for from Orbitz. I should have gone with a brand name chain for just a few dollars more. The king bed had queen sheets fitted on to it, so were coming off all night. The blanket for the foldout had a hole and stains on it. The carpeting had worn through in many locations. The combined washer / dryer didn't dry (didn't try to wash). There was one trash bin for the entire room (I would have expected one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen / living area, at a minimum). Remote for the living area TV didn't work. Seemed like a quiet area with some nice mature trees. We didn't explore the grounds at all as we were siteseeing from early until late. It was close (drive) to many places to eat - fast food and other. To help them contain costs, they asked that you empty your own trash and strip the beds when leaving.
