Howard Johnson Resort Hotel - St. Pete Beach FL

Great location, Great employees,Beech front room had a great view esp. at sunset.Music from Hotel next to the HJ was abit irratating but overall a good stay.

We went to the Tampa/St. Pete's area to see a Yankess spring training game. Very happy to have stayed on lovely St. Pete's Beach. The hotel was comfortable, clean and situated with beach bar/cafe out back leading right onto a pristine beach. Out front was the main drag with plenty of restaurants, nightlife and shopping.

The front desk service was very friendly. WE had a room overlooking the pool, which I didn't know, so that was a nice surprise, our sliding door opened so we could walk across the grass to the pool/deck area. The beach bar Tainted Monkey or Drunken Monkey, whatever it was called was great - good bands both days & nights. Food was good, and they let us bring our own mixed drinks on their deck.. Loved it!!!

We enjoyed the beach bar and the live music . The Happy Hour was great! It was also great with the resturant on sight. Good food and a good value. Very friendly staff.

Travelled from New York to Florida to see a Yankees spring season game and unfortunately the weather was less than warm. Fortunately the staff and surroundings at the Howard Johnson made up for it. We would love to go back to take full advantage of the beach bar, pool and beach.

Friendly and courteous staff, clean rooms, good food, nice pool area protected from the strong Gulf winds, within walking distance of grocery store and many restaurants, beautiful beach, free access to computer and printer to print boarding passes.

The room was clean, the staff was great. St Pete Beach is a great place to stay! The coffee here was terrible, but is at most hotels anyway. Luckily, there was a Starbuck's in the next hotel. If you want to go beach bar hopping, this is the place to be

Beds were so comfy, but the bathroom was gross... Needed deep cleaning and updating. The iron was dirty so it couldn't be used safely and the fridge was rusty on the bottom. Restaurants were awesome as well as the staff at restaurant and the hotel staff. Internet was only 2 bars... Pool area great!! I would not stay again until they update/clean the baths.

Stayed at hotel about 4 days, with 4 kids and 2 adults. We reserved the two room 4 queen bed suite w kitchen. Bed were comfy, kitchen was small but very functional (we cooked breakfast every morning). Bathrooms were clean, as were the rooms. Only thing that concerned us was that we were on the first floor, sliding doors to patio right next to the parking lot. Asked to be moved to another floor but suites like that are only on first floor, all in all, that never even proved to be an issue. Hotel is a bit older in design and can be a little musty, but didnt really bother us. Hotel staff was fabulous, always very nice and acommodating.We visited the toasted monkey on the front of the hotel and the one in the back on the beach numerous times. The one up front was great for the kids, inside dining and such, great food. The bar on the back of the hotel (also the toasted monkey) is more of a beach bar. For a hour or two away from the kids, it was great, food was brought up from the front restaurant, staff at both locations were amazing. Great local restaurants within walking or short driving distance. And very close to everything else we had planned to do in Tampa (aquarium, etc). When we left, said we would definitely return for another trip. Great price for the location.

This is an old hotel. Nothing special, not nice, just beds, ugly walls. Needs renovation.
