Ponce De Leon Boutique Hotel

Pleasant room, helpful staff, great location , great place to stay if you come for a concert

I've stayed here many times since it was renovated. Love the renovations and the location. Previous experiences have been good. Not as comfortable as the Hampton Inn next door, but a much better price these days. Unlike before, I was told to park across the street in a metered parking space on the street, which required sinking quarters in the meter. Shower door fell off the track and on to me. No apology from the staff. The bed was terrible, I got no sleep and slogged my way through meetings the next day with a dull mind. Had hoped the staff would ask upon check-out about the comfort of my stay, as is usual practice, but not even a thank you for staying with us.

The Ponce de Leon hotel is in the middle of downtown St. Petersburg - walking distance to shops, resturants. the Dali and parks. The room was simple but comfortable. The shower could have used a place to put the soap. The staff was extremely helpful. One added plus - restaurant and bar next door - great live music. There is also a small wine bistro on the other side, that used to open early for breakfast - unfortunately did not open until 10:00am. I was really looking forward to the coffee and quiche for breakfast.

The hotel has been remodeled, but it was poorly done. The hallways are very dark and smell musty. They are so dark that I had to get on my knees to find where to put the key in the lock to get into my room. The room is of only average decor and is very small. The beds are very uncomfortable and hard. I killed a roach in the bathroom one morning upon waking up. I was placed on the 6th floor and on Saturday evening a group of college aged kids were preparing to go out to a party in there "togas" and were running back and forth in the hall from room to room. At 3:00 a.m. they all came in from the bars and were yelling and carrying on, so I had to call the front desk to come remove them. It was a bad experience!

This hotel is like a European boutique hotel. The room was spotless with wood floors and contemprorary furnishing. There was no view from the room, but the hotel is located one block from the bay and yacht club and is in the midst of a bustling artsy area. The Tapas restaurant located in the hotel is the best I've encountered outside of Spain. I plan to return..

Hard to believe the tv was years old and I didn't know Directv offered only 10 stations, 3 of which were watchable! I am not sure if the cockroach was the welcoming committee or just someone's pet. If you turned up the window a/c beyond low, the noise was unbearable.

My biggest complaint is that this hotel is tight in downtown St. Petersburg and there is no parking!!

I have stayed here three times over the last 4 months on business travel and each visit I have noticed more issues that have made me decide not to stay here again. While the location is nice the cleanliness of the hotel, parking issues and unfriendly staff has made it a place that I don't intend on visiting again. The towels were always dirty and stained, the beding has stains on them constantly and the house keeping staff did a poor job cleaning up the rooms. I have found a better hotel option in the same location that is comparative pricewise and is much nicer that I will be staying at on my future visits.

Small Room! My dorm room in college was bigger! Not worth the money! You can get a condo cheaper on the beach!
