A Great Family Resort

The TradeWinds Island Grand Resort was very clean and comfortable. The staff were exceptionally friendly. There were many activities for the whole family from lounging by the pool to painting wind chimes at the activity centre. The beach access was wonderful. All of the pools were very clean and warm with ample lounge chairs available. We loved every aspect of the Tradewinds.

The Place

Arrived for a long weekend and was greated at the front gate very nicely, was impressed with the security. After a very quick check-in finding the room was very easy. Room was just right, with a small sitting area and very comfortable bed. No need to leave the resort they had everything right on site,Just a short drive to Tampa airport.. I would recommend this to both families and just for a romantic getaway

Great place to relax

This place was awesome. Rooms were very comfortable. The kitchen area was very convenient. The view from the room was beautiful. We took a long walk on the beach every morning. It was just a short drive to any restaurants. It's a great place to just chill out.

We took a drive up and down the coastline and stopped at other beaches to view the pelicans, coastal neighborhoods, and restaurants. Madeira Beach has a nice boardwalk with restaurants and shops. And we saw dolphins playing in the ocean for the first time!

A perfect family-oriented hotel

The Tradewinds Island Grand Resort is a perfect family-oriented hotel. Multitudes of families with children ranging from the infant to teenage years were present during my stay from August 7-11, 2007. The hotel staff, hotel room, service, and amenities weren't comparable to a luxury 5-Star establishment, but were substantially adequate; the Tradewinds was the next best thing to a 5-Star on St. Pete beach. I was very satisfied with every aspect of the hotel, and surprisingly very pleased upon my arrival and throughout my stay. However, please keep in mind if you are looking for a quiet vacation or a romantic retreat the Tradewinds Island Grand Resort is NOT the place for you. I vacationed with my brother and it was just fine; nonetheless, I would not vacation here as a romantic getaway with my fiance.

Exceeded our expectations!

It exceeded our expectations. Talk about being waited on! All of the employees were super friendly, always calling us by name. That was very impressive. Our room had all we needed and more...it was a great plus to have a kitchen table with fridge, microwave, toaster and utensils, cups, saucers, etc.....we were able to save a fortune by walking to the nearby grocery store and grabbing breakfast foods, snacks, etc. The only meal we dined out for was dinner. Everything was in walking distance, which is why we chose this hotel over the Don CeSar. Tradewinds Island Grand was a very good value and I would definitely stay there again as well as recommend it to friends. They also offer a driver for a nominal fee in case there's somewhere you need to go but don't feel like walking....all vehicles were clean and the drivers attentive and friendly. Enough restaurants on the resort to please everyone in the family. Oh, and did I mention the excellent beach! The only complaints I heard from other vacationers was that they shouldn't charge $30/day for the huge inflatable slide. That did seem a bit steep, although we didn't even use it. The free paddleboats were a wonderful addition! I guess I can't say enough good things about this fabulous resort!!!!

directly across the street is a great little beach store with very reasonable prices. The kids loved it and nothing was overpriced so they were happy to spend their own money! They had a henna tatoo artist at the store and the kids all thought it was very cool and they were also reasonably priced....

Great wedding destination

Spent 4 days from 10/16 to 10/19 at the Tradewinds Island Grand hotel and had a wonderfull time. Went there for a wedding that was performed on the beach and the reception was held outdoors and they did a wonderfull job in all departments. The beach is huge the water was warm and if you like collecting shells theres no shortage there. It's a family type of resort but I liked the fact that they also had an area just for adults. Our room was large and very comfortable and well maintained. Food and drinks are a bit pricey but there are stores nearby where you can buy food and drink and bring back. We had a fridge in our room. I would recommend it and would stay again.

What a wonderful get-away

The staff was courteous, professional and competent. The rooms were spotless. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. Parking was a bit of a problem. I had quite a little hike to get to my room. But, in all, the weekend was wonderful.
