Best Western The Plaza Hotel

pricy for just a room; close to bus route and airport shuttle are about the only positives

The hotel is conveniently near the airport. You may go downtown by bus. It is an average hotel.

Just stayed overnight while going on to another island the next morning. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable, but it was very noisy. The interstate is right above the hotel and it was loud all night, had to wear ear plugs. The bathroom did not have a shower curtain. It was close to airport and that was what we were looking for.

For that stop over at the airport this works out fin-clean and convenient

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Parking was a bit of a problem in the evenings .The room we stayed in was noisy because we had a corner room with windows on two walls and we faced the airport but with the windows closed it did not bother us at night. The view of Waikiki was spectacular.

This is an older hotel with comfortable beds. We stayed here because it was the only hotel with an airport shuttle. It was fine for a quick overnight stay between flights.

The reviews that I read prior to my trip were spot on especially regarding the rooms. They were clean and the beds and bedding were very comfortable. I found the restaurant onsite to have a great breakfast plus I enjoyed the seafood buffet on Friday and Saturday night. Free shuttle to and from the airport is a bonus and the drivers were very friendly. Now, for a first time visitor to Hawaii with planned tours and visits to Waikiki the location was definitely a problem. One way taxi fairs to the Royal Hawaian hotel were $30+ using Charlie's Taxi service. Even at $60+ a day for taxis however, it's still probably a better value than a Waikiki hotel.

Airport pick-up and delivery was prompt and timely = excellent. Hotel snack/gift shop was open all hours = very good. Hotel front desk staff was knowledgable = very good. Wi-Fi connection was easy and fast = very good.

Nice large room, immaculate, love it that the whole hotel has now gone smoke free. We always stay here on our way through Honolulu, very close to airport, has shuttle. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful

I just wanted to start off by saying that even I with my five ratings in some of the places, I underrated this hotel. I don't think the categories it asks you to rate really sum up the whole experience this hotel can offer you. First of all, one of the driving factors of booking this place for me was it's proximity to the airport. Just that factor alone is worth it's low room price if you have an early morning departure from Honolulu. But it doesn't stop there - they offer a complimentary shuttle ride to and from the airport. There are even phones that you can use to call the Best Western for free from the Baggage Claim in the airport to get a shuttle. The staff is one of the nicest I've run into. Not only did they do the jobs that they were supposed to do, but went out of their way to go above what I think was the minimum which their job entailed. I went swimming at Waikiki beach, and I was alone and didn't want my phone to get stolen, so I wrapped it in plastic and took it swimming with me. Even though my phone was in the plastic, it didn't like the water as much as I did, and the phone completely died. I had to call my family and tell them about it in case they tried to call me, and the lady at the front desk let me use the front desk phone to call them and tell them how to call my room phone. Seems stupid of me I know, but it's things like this that let you see just how great (or terrible) the staff at these places are. Plus, I mean, it has all the expected amenities like free wifi, comfy beds, and a swimming pool. They even have a full restaurant that serves great food - but you have to pay - and the breakfast is not complimentary either. Also its a Best Western, so if you're loyal to them then there are perks which come with that, so if you are, then this Best Western is definitely one of the ones that make that pay off. Lastly, I'm going to say this. This is a bargain hotel that is in Honolulu, Hawaii. When you have places in that town that charge huge rates for their rooms just because of the location, its nice that you can find a lower price hotel that is next to the airport and right in the middle of most of the things you'd want to do in Honolulu as a tourist. Pearl Harbor is about the same distance from the Best Western as the Waikiki area. So if you're taking a trip to Honolulu, for a nightly layover, a weekend excursion, or a two-and-a-half week long vacation, then really consider this hotel. Its not lacking in quality, yet the price is incredibly reasonable compared to other places, so you'll be able to enjoy more of your time here with the money you saved.
