Great Michigan Avenue location

The hotel is old and the room was rough. Although the beds were comfortable! One night stay was the max for us.

Sufficient

The Hotel is particularly old, but it has been kept in good shape. My room was very quiet, and it had 10 foot ceilings which was nice. It was a little expensive, because it isn't that nice but the location is unbeatable. I was in town without a car, and it worked great for my needs.

Cockroaches

We had cockroaches in our room! The staff was nice and quick to give us a new room. But the cockroaches caused uneasiness throughout the trip and we were not offered anything "for our trouble". Gross.

Mediocre hotel, great location

Great location, right on Michigan Ave across from Grant park. Rooms are as basic as could be, but at least they are clean. Receptionists could use a lesson in customer service, but concierge was great.

Girls getaway

The location of this hotel could not be better for our purposes. The decor is old and out-dated. Our room was really warm so we called the front desk to see if there was any way to cool the room down, and they suggested opening a window, which was near impossible in our room because the window was 4' off the floor, and we would have had to climb up onto the window ledge to open it. Other than that, we stay at this hotel every year for the same event, and that is the only issue we've had.

Very Old Feel, But Good Deal

Despite a sparkling lobby, the Congress feels like it's step back in time. The rooms are oddly apportioned with really high ceilings and lots of window space. Overall, I certainly didn't feel pampered, but the location was wonderfully convenient and the staff was friendly. When booking, remember to factor in the parking costs. It will run you at least $35/day (I stayed late the second day of my stay, so that was $49), unless you can think of a more clever system than I did!

Location, location!

Gr8 location for getting around the city, staff at front desk could have been a tad more gracious, others were quite helpful. Overall not bad, I would stay again since it's close to everything.

Hot, Noisy, and Small

We checked in really early but told the hotel staff that there wasn't a rush for the room since we would be back to the hotel to go to the room really late. The room was exceptionally hot, with the only way to adjust the temperature by opening a window 4". However, at midnight, the "L" was still running just below the room so the noise level was too loud to keep it open. The bed was hard as a rock and the pillows were not much better. Internet was a separate charge and they blocked the signal for my IPad so I couldn't even use that.
