Okay if you don't plan on spending much time in your room

The rooms are small and falling apart. The beds are uncomfortable and my TV remote didn't work. It is okay if you are just wanting somewhere to sleep.

Great location in historic building, spacious room, terrible internet

Would recommend Mon 23 Nov 2015
It's not the Ritz -- although perhaps it was like that 50 years ago -- but the location on Michigan Ave across from Grant Park is great, the room spacious with 12' or so ceilings, the location convenient and perfect for the budget-minded business traveller. Except that the internet usually didn't work for much of my stay! Fix that, and I'd give the hotel a great rating for value for the money. (Keep in mind that it doesn't have the spit and polish of the $200/night hotels nearby, but that's fine by me.)

Room was cold, no hot water luck warm at best, tolet need flush multiple times to work, no access to movie channels even though they did tried to Bill me for it. Complained to staff nothing was done. The only good thing was the restaurant. Outstanding steaks.

Old hotel

This hotel needs some serious updating. Great location and people. For the cost, you expect more updated look as well as working elevators.

Depressing, rundown, toxic

Would not recommend Thu 19 Nov 2015
Great location and nice staff but dingy, terrible hotel. Rooms like they were glued together from cardboard. Somehow renovating this hotel has made it shabby rather than grand. Also as upgraded are happening very powerful toxic fumes waft through the halls. Avoid.

Awesome location, all that you need

Would recommend Tue 17 Nov 2015
It was great to be in a very convenient location. The room was large. Free wifi, free boarding pass printing, free luggage storage the day of check-out - everything was easy and convenient. My only negative comment is that there was a door between me an the room next door and i could hear the people in there as if they were in the room with me. Luckily they settled down by midnight, but I was trying to get to sleep early.

Business trip

Made a mistake and decided to stay one night at this historical hotel. My room was nothing like what was shown in the pictures - nowhere near that. Creepy room with dirty carpet 4' by 2 window at about 6' high looking into a brick wall - typical for old prisons. Just a really bad vibe - I never got that feeling at any of the hotel I stayed in my life. Badly lid narrow hallways, ugly tile, old furniture. Rom did have a tall ceiling, which is typical for buildings built in the 19th century. Heat pump did not work properly and I could not lower the heat and have been sweating all night. Was very glad to leave that one behind next morning. Should have left after I saw all this beauty but was too tired after 14 hour work day. Stayed at Embassy Suits on Miracle Mile next night for the same price - what a difference. Avoid this one for sure.

It needs a total gut reno. The hotel even smelled old. But I guess that's why it was the cheapest.
