Mag Mile hotel close to Grant Park, Museum Campus and Lake Michigan
Hilton Chicago guests have the lake and Mag Mile outside their windows and at their front door, an enviable position for the many conventioneers and tourists who flock to the Windy City every year. Across from Grant Park, the 1,544-rooms retain a traditional look, but are equipped with modern conveniences like flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi. Kitty O'Shea's, the on-site Irish pub, makes for a cozy spot to indulge in shepherd's pie and a pint of Guinness.
Highlights
  • Mag Mile hotel across from Grant Park and other Chicago landmarks
  • Ample convention space
  • 1,544 traditionally-styled rooms equipped with Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs
  • Kitty O'Shea's Irish pub
Location
Perched on the Mag Mile -- Chicago's famous boulevard for shopping and landmarks -- Hilton Chicago maintains a high-profile presence and instant access to Grant Park, Lake Michigan, Museum Campus, Millennium Park and the Art Institute of Chicago. Guests simply have to walk to some of the city's best shops, restaurants and bars from the property or take advantage of ample bus and train lines nearby.
Rooms
Hilton Chicago rooms embody traditional sophistication. Neutral colors complement heavy wood furniture, from gold-trimmed nightstands and headboards to handsome media cabinets. Guests have a choice, too, thanks to an inventory of 1,544 rooms -- ideal for conventioneers and tourists looking to stay on the Mag Mile. Crown molding and valances in some rooms add extra touches of elegance. Windows have city or Lake Michigan views. Standard amenities include La Source from Crabtree & Evelyn bath products, European linens, 27-inch flat-screen TVs and wired or Wi-Fi access.
Dining
Hilton Chicago brings a taste of Ireland to Chicago with Kitty O'Shea, the resident wood-heavy Irish pub, where diners wash down Celtic favorites like shepherd's pie and fish 'n chips with creamy pints of Guinness. For a hearty breakfast buffet, patrons visit The Pavilion, which dishes up 40 items on the stations. The restaurant is open all day.

Timeless hotel even with minor imperfections

It is a beautiful hotel with a lot of history. I loved my stay but noticed that some of the bathroom fixtures were broken or missing. There is no lock on the bathroom door which doesn't really bother me but there is no ventilation in there whatsoever. After taking a shower, everything in the bathroom will be wet from all the moisture trapped in. But I'm my stay was very comfortable and will definitely stay there again.

Not what we paid for

We were there for an exhibit opening at the Field Museum, so the location could not be any better considering the Labor Day weekend and all associated events. There was no soap or shampoo for the entire time we were there. Had to go downstairs and ask the front desk if we get any or do I have to buy soap to wash my hands after using the room's facilities. No water bottles were available in the room to be purchased or compliments of the hotel. Even with the discount, the price was high based on the services. Secondly, there was a huge concert event, which is understandable given the big city of Chicago, but the waiting to check in and do anything was poorly managed.

Overnight stay

We had a great experience at the Hilton. We went overnight for a quick getaway for our anniversary. He had stayed there several years ago. He was impressed that they kept the classical look in the lobby and updated their rooms. It reminded me of a hotel in Las Vegas! Clean and quiet and great service at front desk. Would definitely stay there again!

Nor what I expected!!!

What I viewed online and booked was not what I got. I was very disappointed In the room, the decor of the room was very outdated. The service and the interaction of the staff was average at best not the type of service that you would expect out of a 4 star hotel. I definitely will not be going back to the Hilton in any future vacation stay.

Awesome hotel Near Museum Campus and the Fountainn

This is a classic hotel with outstanding amenities, but the staff is why I would return. From Jonathan Smith who delivered our bags to Antonio the morning bell captain, and Franco, the evening concierge in the Executive lounge. They understand customer service and were just plain nice. Franco went out of his way to make sure our party of 3 had a room with 2 bathrooms. The room was huge! However, he understood that my teenager needed her own space, and when a king suite became available in the more contemporary part of the hotel, he assigned us this suite. Amazing. Amazing room with a Murphy bed, dining room table, sofa, wet bar, and bathroom with shower attached to a large king bed room. Perfect! I love the classic feel with the modern touches. My daughter loved the indoor pool. There's a Starbucks on site too! It's not near the main shopping, but the kids walked to the museums - exactly what I wanted! Thank you to the team at the hotel - they made us feel like family and we will be back because of them!
