Mag Mile hotel close to Grant Park, Museum Campus and Lake Michigan
Hilton Chicago guests have the lake and Mag Mile outside their windows and at their front door, an enviable position for the many conventioneers and tourists who flock to the Windy City every year. Across from Grant Park, the 1,544-rooms retain a traditional look, but are equipped with modern conveniences like flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi. Kitty O'Shea's, the on-site Irish pub, makes for a cozy spot to indulge in shepherd's pie and a pint of Guinness.
Highlights
  • Mag Mile hotel across from Grant Park and other Chicago landmarks
  • Ample convention space
  • 1,544 traditionally-styled rooms equipped with Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs
  • Kitty O'Shea's Irish pub
Location
Perched on the Mag Mile -- Chicago's famous boulevard for shopping and landmarks -- Hilton Chicago maintains a high-profile presence and instant access to Grant Park, Lake Michigan, Museum Campus, Millennium Park and the Art Institute of Chicago. Guests simply have to walk to some of the city's best shops, restaurants and bars from the property or take advantage of ample bus and train lines nearby.
Rooms
Hilton Chicago rooms embody traditional sophistication. Neutral colors complement heavy wood furniture, from gold-trimmed nightstands and headboards to handsome media cabinets. Guests have a choice, too, thanks to an inventory of 1,544 rooms -- ideal for conventioneers and tourists looking to stay on the Mag Mile. Crown molding and valances in some rooms add extra touches of elegance. Windows have city or Lake Michigan views. Standard amenities include La Source from Crabtree & Evelyn bath products, European linens, 27-inch flat-screen TVs and wired or Wi-Fi access.
Dining
Hilton Chicago brings a taste of Ireland to Chicago with Kitty O'Shea, the resident wood-heavy Irish pub, where diners wash down Celtic favorites like shepherd's pie and fish 'n chips with creamy pints of Guinness. For a hearty breakfast buffet, patrons visit The Pavilion, which dishes up 40 items on the stations. The restaurant is open all day.

Hilton Chicago

The hotel was great, the service was terrific, it was a GREAT location for the trade-show at McCormick Place. The room was VERY comfortable, clean and quiet. The bar and restaurant were fine, but with so many great restaurants in the area I ate out... It a good choice.

Excellent Hotel!

The hotel was excellent! It was clean and comfortable and even had 2 bathrooms. The only thing I didn't care for was the cost for parking. 43.00 per 24 hours. I parked 2 blocks away for half the price.

Overpriced, unkempt fake luxury

We stopped in Chicago on a cross country road trip and wanted to book a place within walking distance to the Shedd aquarium. The Hilton seemed perfect. It was on Michigan Ave meaning lots of entrainment and dining options and it was south of all the major noise. The walk to the museum area and the aquarium was an enjoyable 10 minutes through the park. The hotel itself was extremely disappointing though. We arrived around 4 PM and made our way around the miserable, but standard for Chicago or New York, parking lot. The lot is available to the public so finding a spot is a challenge in the middle of the day.The receptionist at the check-in desk was very nice [...]Upon opening the room, we found a folio for the previous guest on the floor and small bits of trash still around the room. The room itself also smelled of smoke (and thanks to the folio we knew the name and purchases of the person who made it smell that way - kudos to Hilton for valuing it's guests' privacy!)The room itself was also tiny. And I mean seriously tiny. There was just enough room for the bed, a small tv, and a desk. The faucets and toilet were gilded gold and chipping all over.Frustrated with the room, we went down to the business center to print a few documents we wanted, only to find that their idea of a business center is a fedex/kinkos with pay to use computers (40 cents a minute) and printers (50 cents a page). Speaking of amenities, a big reason we wanted to stay was to use their indoor lap pool - a gem for us since most hotel pools are 4 feet deep and filled with kids. Unfortunately, the pool was closed for renovations.Among all the hotels we stayed in along our trip, the Hilton Chicago was by far the worst of the bunch. The Hyatt Place in Columbus and the Westin St. Louis were both significantly cheaper than the Hilton and outclassed it by miles. Our room at the Hyatt Place was actually more than double the size of the Hilton and the Westin was even bigger.I've stayed in the Sofitel in Chicago for about the same price and if you're trying to choose between the Hilton and the Sofitel (actually between the Hilton and anything else on Michigan Ave), do yourself a favor and pick the latter.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

Check out the Brazilian steakhouses just about a mile north of the Hilton. Pricey but definitely a great experience.

charming hotel

Classic old Chicago hotel. Rooms are spacious, beds are very comfortable supplied with down pillows. We were in town for a bridal party. Staying at the Chicago Hilton is always one of the highlights of our trips when visiting Chicago. We always stay at the Chicago Hilton when enjoying downtown Chicago.

Greek Islands is our favorite restaurant to dine out at when is Chicago. It is a short drive to Greek town from the Hilton and never a disappointment. The food is wonderful and well as the service.

Great location.

This has been the second time I stayed at the Hilton. It is showing it's age yet the history and trivia is worth it. All of the presidents have stayed there and super movies have been filmed there. It overlooks grant park. It is beautiful.
