Perfect location at the top of the Magnificent mile
As locations go, this Wacker Drive hotel couldn't do better, occupying prime riverfront space in the historical Mather Tower off the Magnificent Mile. The landmark River Hotel has kept up with the times, especially when it comes to environmental impact. Its LEED-registered building and Green Power Partner utilizes low-flow showerheads and participates in recycling programs. For what it may lack in luxury and size, the hotel scores on points like casual ambiance, simplicity and value.

Great place but needs some help
We love the River Hotel for its friendly staff and perfect location across the street from the River Walk. Its also close to great shopping and restaurants. However, our room wasn't cleaned for two full days until we called the front desk and asked for it and then certain things weren't replaced (washcloths, etc.). Takes it from a 5 to a 4 but we'll still stay there when in Chicago.

great view
The location & the view was the best! It was right around the corner from the famous michigan ave where you can shop & eat. It was within walking distance to the famous giordanos pizza &also walking distance to catch the subway to wriggley's field. Definately wouldn't mind staying here again.

Perfect location to everthing on Magic Mile
Hotel was centrally located to michigan mile which meant we could walk almost everywhere that we needed to get to. Price was reasonable for location. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall a great hotel in downtown chicago.

Enjoy Life
Perfect!
This hotel is the perfect location!! It is right along the river. It is only two blocks away from the subway and the bus stop is just around the block. Everything is within walking distance from here. I have stayed in Chicago many times, but always closer to the airport. The River is my new choice every time I visit the "Windy City".

Awesome place
Absolute perfect location for shopping, site seeing and anything and everything you wanna do downtown!!!!! Room was rather hot had a/c on high entire time and room never really cooled down but that's only complaint!!!!

Great Service
Fantastic location. Park at the nearby lot was convienient. Bars close near the hotel at Midnite so plan accordingly. Room was very comfortable. Staff very helpful!

1st Time Visit to Chicago
Perfect Location, Beautiful View
The location of this hotel was within walking distance of everything a "tourist" would want to see -Great downtown vibe, the Chicago River steps away from the front door, and friendly staff. The only complaint would be the bed, which wasn't as comfortable as what one would expect, and there wasn't much shower pressure - but theses are minor things compared to the overall wonderful experience of a long weekend in the city. We would stay here again.

Up north Joe
Great location for city weekend
Location is central to the sights and shopping that Chicago has to offer. My wife and I were able to walk to Michigan Ave (1 block away), Navy Pier via the river walk (25 min), Millennium Park (15 min), Art Institute (25 min), and the museum campus with the Field Museum (50 min). Next door is a nice breakfast location. Hotel meet our needs as we only used it for a place to sleep.
