Built in 1897, the historic Boston Hotel Buckminster was one of the first hotels built in the Boston area. The hotel was designed by renowned architect Stanford White, who also designed the Boston Public Library as well as many of the elegant Back Bay townhouses on Beacon Street. The hotel is located on the triangular intersection of Beacon Street and Brookline Avenue in Boston's Kenmore Square. Today the Boston Hotel Buckminster stands as the "Heart of Kenmore Square", offering 116 guest rooms and suites as Boston's only true Budget Hotel. The Boston Hotel Buckminster's location is second to none in the City of Boston, as it is the closest hotel to both Fenway Park and Boston University. The hotel serves visitors to the Back Bay and Downtown Boston areas year round and provides easy access to the Kenmore Station on Boston's Subway System and is within a short walk to the vast majority of Boston's attractions. Parking is available for a fee.

A Good Choice

I stayed at the Buckminster because it is walking distance from Fenway Park. But the location was ideal in other ways, too. There were several decent restaurants and a subway terminal in the area. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful and the price was affordable. It was a good choice for all of those reasons.

Great!

Great hotel! Very helpful, super nice staff! Great location! One block from Fenway, subway, lots of fun bars and resturants within walking distance. The hotel is old, but it was perfect for us and was very clean. Had a great experience!

Take the Fenway Tour! They let you sit in the press box, on the green monster, and they take you to field. If you like many different kinds of beer, definitely go to Boston Beer Works (across from Fenway)!

Perfect place to stay

We were in Boston to help our daughter look for a place to live this fall. The hotel was in a great location to get on the "T" and navigate the city with very little effort. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. For sure would stay there again.

Good value

The hotel is not very fancy, but has its charm. Cannot find a better value for the price and location (near BU). We've stayed at the hotel two times, and both times we were very satisfied.

Reasonably priced, good location

The Buckminster Hotel is an old hotel recently renovated. Much of the hotel is modern, freshly painted, and newly decorated-except for the televisions. Parking was reasonable for a hotel, $28/day. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is a short walk for Fenway Park and the subway. The complementary breakfast was typical. They are struggling with the boilers, so there was not enough really hot water at all times. We were assured they were in the process of fixing the problem.

GREAT WEEKEND

We were in Boston for a Red Sox game. The location of the Hotel Buckminster is PERFECT for a Red Sox fan- the ballpark is SO close. You can actually see the lights of Fenway Park from the hotel. The cleanliness of the rooms was very impressive, and the suite are quite spacious- definitely enough room for a family of 4 or 5. We loved the continental breakfast- it a great way to start the day- everything you need- coffee, muffins, croissants, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, juice, bagels..... We did not eat at the restaurant (Japanese, sushi) but it looked great and was PACKED full on Friday night.

Great Time in Beantown

I went to visit my daughter at college. The Buckminster is close to everything! Comfy bed. Quiet hotel. Its an old hotel so it's not "swanky". Very clean and cozy! Love it!

Unbeatable Location

Opened the shades in the room to a full view of Fenway Park and Landsdowne Street. Room was spacious and clean. More importantly it was stumbling distance from the House of Blues. On the downside, shower was a struggle with no attached shower head, parking was expensive for an overnight ($28), and the hotel could use some updating. However, I generally stay at hotels to sleep and not hang-out in my room. Location was sweet and the price was good relative to the location.

Red Sox fans

If you are going to see a Red Sox game, this is the hotel for you. The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk to the stadium. The Kenmore station is also very close and can get you to and from the airport by taking the airport shuttle to the Blue Line and the transfer to the Green Line at Government Station going outbound to the hotels location at Kenmore station. This is not a 5 star hotel, and you have to overlook some of the cosmetics and age to really enjoy the hotel. If you just need a place to sleep with a friendly staff this is for you. You get free breakfast which isn't the best but there are a lot of restaurants around to choose from.
