Anniversary getaway

The people and the restaurant were great!! The room was very comfortable, but I have to say it is the ugliest room that I have ever seen!! The paper clashed with the bedspread which clashed with the carpet. The jacuzzi double tub is romantic, but the rust stains are kind of scary. Being in down town Hyannis was fun. I would recommend this hotel but would tell my friends how it looked.

Horrible experience!! Never be back!!

Well, to start our trip off, we went to the office to get our keys which took about 20 minutes! There was a couple ahead of us who was dealing with someone else and their own issue with their room. The man who was entering our info was clueless and unprofessional. He was keeping us waiting by talking and making jokes with other staff, answering the phone and forgetting what he was doing. He tried to charge me for the room even though I showed him my receipt showing it was paid for. After finally getting our keys and getting to our room, which was not what it sounded like online, we tried to just let loose. The jacuzzi had dirt and debris in it and I had to clean it out before using it (which I shouldn't have to do on a mini vaca). After the jacuzzi, we took SCALDING HOT showers because if the people above us took a shower, if effected the temp of ours so it was either way too hot or way to cold! Finally, we just wanted to go to bed but that was nearly impossible! You could hear every single things from outside the room and above us so when the people upstairs were filling the jacuzzi all night and first thing in the morning, we heard it as if it was in our room! Even the people walking down the halls with suitcases was loud as can be. Lets just say we got NO SLEEP!! This was a night away after having out baby 8 months ago and we get more sleep with him at home!! We were so excited about this trip and it was a huge disappointment! We were glad to leave and will never be back! So, just when you think you can put this trip behind you, I check my bank account to see a charge of $133.20 from the hotel!! I called immediately to inquire about this and the guy who answered had no clue why and said "maybe it was for smoking in the room."!! That's weird when I DIDN'T SMOKE IN THE ROOM! So I had to call back for a manager to find out that after everything, THEY DID CHARGE ME AGAIN FOR THE ROOM!! I guess a receipt from my payment wasn't enough! This was a horrible experience and I recommend no one even waste their money going here! I won't ever make this mistake again!!

great if you like mirrors!

Orb....z messed up my booking at another hotel, so this was random. Place was like a 70;s hotel you take a date with mirrors everywhere, giant tub. However the swearing women across the hall because everything was broken who was escorted out on her anniversary kind of set the pace. If you need a quick place to stay okay, but pretty bad otherwise, sorry staff was nice but that was about it. Needs updating badly.

Great Stay for the Price

So, the only problem that my husband and I encountered with the stay was check in. Apparently, the hotel was new at processing online bookings, so there was some confusion that had to be sorted out regarding how the billing worked. One of the front desk staff was also the bartender at the adjoining restaurant, and was also very informative about the specials that they were running for dinner and how breakfast worked out. The hotel is right on Main Street and a short walk to the docks for the ferries to the islands, and there are a number of shops and restaurants along the way. A short drive away is the airport and more of the shopping centers. Our room was clean, and although the wallpaper was a bit outdated, we weren't there to look at the wallpaper! The king sized bed was comfy and the whirlpool tub was HUGE! I've stayed at other places were the whirlpool tub is generally a standard bathtub with jets. This was definitely a couple's tub. The staff was friendly overall, the room was very nice, and we really enjoyed our stay. We were discussing possibly going back for another anniversary.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

At Pain d'Auvignon, a great, little French bakery and bistro, if you don't have room for dessert, that's ok. They send you off with chocolate hazelnut bread that is AMAZING! Also, if you are working on a budget (kinda), remember to ask about their bar prices. Our meals were excellent, where we split an appetizer ($17 foie gras) and each had an entree ($21-$28) and my husband had a beer ($6) and I a glass of wine ($9). However, at the end, we couldn't fit dessert, and not being aware of the bread, figured that we would do after dinner drinks. Well, the informative bartender started going over the whiskey & scotch menu, and where he had named off some standard that you can find in a liquor store, we didn't think to ask about what they were charging for the glass. So, now we know that the Balvenie 17 yr Madera cask scotch is phenomenal, and at $35 PER GLASS it had best be! We laughed about after, but the bill was a bit of a surprise. Most expensive drinks I've ever had with a meal, but the bread helped to assuage some of the shock.
