Pleasant Stay in a Nor'easter
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Portland by the Bay in early November, during a crazy storm. We were glad to be so close to the restaurants and bars we wanted to go to because of the weather. Great location, decent view too. They were very accommodating, gave us toothbrushes which we failed to pack. We weren't able to get a late check out, but we didn't request until the night before.

Overnight trip
The front desk people weren't that friendly. Thr room was nice. Went to use the hairdryer which was in a bag in the morning. It was broken. Called housekeeping and they brought up a new one very quickly. Portland waterfront is a fun place to shop and walk!

Overnight stay
Staff was extremely friendly, room was great and loved that check out was at noon. We really loved that the pool hours were until late, when you are staying 1 night in a hotel, you really want to enjoy the town. We got to enjoy the day, and relax later that night in the pool.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
There are all kinds of stores that are a short walk away. If you love restaurants or just to hang out in a sports pub to watch your favorite football team win, there's plenty of pubs around and great people to meet.

Perfect Location
We flew into Portland just to hang out and experience the city. We did not rent a car, nor did we need to. The Hotel picked us up at the airport. The hotel is located close enough to the downtown / wharf area that you can walk anywhere in a couple of minutes. Our room was huge, nicely furnished, comfortable. The only ding on the room was our drain for the shower was a little slow.. I would stay here again in a heart beat.

Location, location, location
The location of this hotel is perfect. It's just a short walk to restaurants and a short drive to downtown. The garage parking is small, but the lot next door can help. I would recommend however that garage parking be monitored more as other cars were found to take up more than one space, making it difficult to fit your car in the space alongside.

In Hotel
The breakfast in the hotel is very good. I would suggest however that you don't do room service! I ordered room service for one, ala carte and paid over $18 for breakfast, before tip. The next day my girlfriend and I ate in the restaurant and the bill was only $22. In other words, don't be lazy! lol

Great place, great price
Overall, it's a very good hotel. There was a service issues where I had to call multiple times to get help. But, that was a minor issue. The location is very good for the price. The port, shopping, movies and museums are within walking distance, but not very close. This is less convenient, but good if you don't like congestion and noise. Overall, I would stay here again when visiting Old Port in Portland.

HOtel stay
The lobby and shared facilities were very nice. My room was a bit "tired". carpet needed cleaning and the bathroom grout and tiles were in need of update, so it seemed dirty. Believe if these were corrected the room would have rated a 4 . Thanks,
