Down Town Vegas
The first room I got (Vintage) should be old and small, although it was clean, the shower head had very little water pressure. I up graded to a tower room for $22.60. It was a vast improvement, Larger more updated. The front desk staff were great, although I was informed ( when I ask for a tea bag instead of coffee) that I could call room service for a $12.50 cup of tea. Other than that the trip was fine loved downtown and the gaming staff with one exception was very friendly.

Switched.............But that's OK!
I did not intend on staying at the El Cortez, but the Gold Spike, which I originally booked, was sold and closed down three days before my arrival. The El Cortez was a very nice place. Although not as inexpensive as the Gold Spike, it was still the best deal on Fremont Street. I've already booked another trip to the place.

A bit of a disappointment
My experience was a little disappointing in that I asked for a non-smoking room and although it was marked non-smoking, it did smell strongly of cigarettes. They also ran out of hot water for my shower one morning around 8:15. That was the clincher that brought me to the front desk to also let them know the remote for the T.V. was broken. I had left a note on the dresser for the housekeeper, but nothing was changed until I reported it myself and by the time I returned later that night it was replaced. I didn't expect the a five star hotel, but did hope to have a room that was smoke-free , clean and in working order.

bad hotel
I had made it for my husband Joe Vargas. He had stay there 5or 6 times. This time the had him in a small room with no safe n all kind of little kids running around at all hours. The desposit hold on card w had been $50.00 the three times he had stay there. This time it was $120.00. They said it was a mastercharge debit card that why. He's use the same card on all previous visit at $50.00. They have always put him the towers this time he was put in the pavillion. Thank you Joe n Delores Vargas

Great Hotel for the price
Paid about 40. a night for this room right off Fremont Street. Walking distance to all the bars and Casino's in Down Town Vegas. Room was clean and had a nice view of down town. Only bad thing for me since I love the jacuzzi and a swimming pool is that there is none. Other than that great stay.
