Meet Tinseltown and the sleek home of Holly Madison's Peepshow
Like a world unto itself, Planet Hollywood Resort Casino encompasses a dramatic metropolitan resort with a chic, high-energy gaming floor (one of the first with sexy dealers), theaters, lounges, restaurants, a spa by Mandara and the Miracle Mile Shops. Former Playmate Holly Madison's "Peepshow" revue takes off nightly, not far from Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo Cantina, Pink's famous hot dogs and the sultry Strip House for steaks. Not surprisingly, movie premieres, filmings and star sightings are common here.

DINK - Double Income, No kids
Great vibe and no-hassle vacation
We were looking for something that catered to couples more than families and Planet Hollywood fit the bill. There were no surprises - we knew about the additional daily resort fee from Orbitz (just under $6 daily) and the room was prepaid with no check-in problems. We got the King, No-Smoking room we requested at check-in. The room was laid out well with a spacious bathroom (separate shower, deep tub, private commode area - all with high-end finishes) and one person could be in the bathroom without disturbing a sleeper in the bedroom. The view from our 19th floor room was spectacular - looking out on the new CityCenter and south down the Strip. The location is the best - one block S. of Bellagio and Caesar's Palace, 2-3 blocks N. of MGM and Monte Carlo...we walked to all of them to check out the sights. The Concierge was able to make reservations at shows and dinner reservations very quickly. The spa (Mandara) was very exotic and spacious, though the services were a little pricier than I am accustomed to. But hey - when on vacation in Vegas.... We chose the Spice-Market buffet. As it turns out, it was Christmas Day. I don't know if that contributed to the long wait and crowd or if it's always that long. If that's normal, expect to spend 1.5 hrs getting thru the line to your table. The buffet was excellent - a lot of international stations with everything from mediterranean to mexican. The food was well-prepared and plentiful. You won't go hungry but it's not an inexpensive choice, either (almost $30pp)! Our only negative observation is that the hotel could do a better job of managing expectations about the length of the wait in the cueing process they have set up, and that all wait staffs need to be more conscientious about refilling drink glasses. That was a recurring complaint of ours - having to continuously flag down waiters for tea/water refills. The casino was great, except I had a hard time navigating my way to specific destinations because it's laid out in a circle. At first we were excited about the casino's "A-List Player's Club" - a way to accrue points as you gamble and get discounts. It appears, however, that the points are a daily total - when we used the card on the second day (after accruing over 100 points the first night) the card had zero balance again. We didn't check with the casino to see if it was a mistake or not, but we quit using the card after that. We did get free drinks as long as we were actually gambling. The hotel has its own shopping mall, called the Miracle Mile. Good selection of stores in the moderate price range (none of the real high-end shopping which suited us fine). We'd definitely stay here again. I wanted a hotel that was less likely to be over-run with children (that's just our preference). We were very satisfied with the location, amenities, services and atmosphere of the hotel and would stay here again (if we return to Vegas).
