Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas, not so hot

When we had questions for the concierge, rather than be helpful and answer the questions, she handed us a booklet and said we would find our answers in there. When asked another question, her reply was the same. We may as well have been talking to a robot. There was a timeshare group onsite, Westgate, and they were extremely rude. The 1.5 hour presentation was over three hours! And, when we said no, they kept sending others in to try to change our minds. They were very agressive and rude. The only polite people at that hotel were the servers in the restaurants. I was very disappointed when I found out that the concierge staff were subcontracted, so the hotel really doesn't care about the attitude and actions, as well as Westgate. If you are going to Vegas, don't stay at Planet Hollywood!

My Las Vegas Stay

The valet staff was not very friendly or willing to help out. The Bellhops on the other hand were more than willing to help you. The convience of taking your luggage to your room was next to impossible especially if you wanted to self park your own vehicle. The room was clean and comfortable but the room was next to the elevators so you heard that all night long. The PH coffee shop located in the hotel the server was not very friendly at all. The Spice Buffet breakfast buffet was very good but the server never came around to offer any juice or coffee etc the hostess brought us our drinks. My overall experience compared to previous ones was that it was very poor.

Nice location, unfriendly staff!

The location was really nice and the hotel looked cool. We checked in very late at night and dealt with a night clerck. He put us in a smoking room which was ok because it did not smell. We asked for the view and he said that there was none as we were on the 6th floor, same level as the pool. However what he hadn't mentioned was that all the heaters and mechanical parts of the pool were just out our window (and all those of the 6th and above) and we would hear the noises ALL NIGHT LONG! Still not the worst part! On our last day (3rd day) we had a flight out at 11pm and therefore asked for a late checkout. The night clerck and the night manager said word for word: The hotel is fully booked but we can UNDO it for $300!!! We asked how he would undo it and the manager told us that there always were solutions for that. However even though we were leaving at 8pm we needed to pay a full night at their rate which was $299. We refused. Went back to our room and booked the same room on Orbitz for $100 less and a bottle of Vodka on the hotel). We then took our reservation to the lobby and told them how we had managed to book for less via Orbitz while we were there and could have directly paid that amount at their frontdesk without all of us going through that hassle. The staff was unfriendly, speaking like robots who have learned their sentences by heart. The casino was ok but none of the free chip offers really worked. We will definitely go back to Vegas but certainly not to this hotel.

Planet Hollywood

There was an hour wait to check in at 1 am. We were given a smoking room even though we requested a non-smoking room. They said thats not guaranteed. The casino is a maze and unless your in the 21-25 age range I'd avoid planet hollywood.

Forever to check in

We had plans about two hours after checking into the hotel. Self parking is a mile from check-in registration. You have to trek your way through the shops to get there. Not easily accessible if you want to do things on your own (especially if you are on a budget). We waited about an hour in line to check in. While our travel companion was a at nearby hotel had checked in, showered, and was gambling by the time we even got to the room. It was not a great welcome to the hotel. We had a great view from the hotel room but I felt that a litte costly. Alcohol that came with the room was great...but two people were not enough to cash in on the savings and we really didn't spend enough time in the room to enjoy it. The hotel was difficult to navigate the floor to find food and gambling spots. I have been to Vegas several times and never had this experience.

Casino is nice, but the rooms aren't

When checking in at PH, you get a discount at some of the restaurants and shops. Don't use them, as they hardly seem to make a dent in the price. If you walk towards MGM, there's a booth that you can purchase discounted tickets for shows and restaurants. We were able to purchase a 50% off our meal at the Planet Dailies restaurant for $3. The hotel only gives you 10% off. The casino is really nice and modern, but the rooms are not. Things were broken or missing in the room, and the lighting was very dim. I would recommend seeing the comedy show "Sin City Comedy" at the V Theater. Very funny and entertaining. Get the discounted tickets on the strip (not from the hotel/casino). Up to 50% off!

Not very impressed

Planet Hollywood had all the game areas, restaurants, shops, etc. that one would want in a typical Vegas hotel. The service was quite poor, however. Our room hadn't been cleaned when we arrived. It took them so long to get it cleaned that we had to switch rooms to catch a show that night. People not as friendly as one would expect. Not sure if PH (and other hotels) are short-staffed right now. But can't recommend based on experience with staff. Better experiences at mulitple other hotels.

Great location, mediocre hotel

The location of the hotel was great. Mid-strip with short walks to most of the other casinos. Nice looking people on the casino too was a plus. We saw Peepshow with Holly Madison, which is at the hotel, and it was pretty good. I give it a B+. Now let's get to the bad stuff... The timeshare solicitation on the hotel floor got out of hand. I expect more respect for a paying guest than to be bothered multiple times a day about the usual free show tickets in exchange for 90 min of your time (which I assume most of you know is to use very aggressive sales tactics to convince you to buy into their timeshare property). The slot machines had very bad payoffs, at least from my experience. I don't gamble much so I stay away from the tables, but I think they are probably a better deal since they can't be "tuned" for higher casino profits. Later I learned that the PH is struggling for cash, which makes a lot of sense now. The room was dusty, sign of a sloppy cleaning job. The closet door was broken and the bathroom granite was cracked, so it was far from being in mint condition. The noise levels were very high, it was very hard to sleep in the mornings, when it wasn't plumbing noises it was an alarm clock from a neighboring room that ran nonstop. The room service was bad. We tried to order something but after 1 hour waiting we gave up and canceled our order.

Cirque de Soleil's "O" was the most spectacular show I have seen in my life. It was very expensive, but I rather see one spectacular show than 2 other good shows. At the Bellagio.
