Pool and communication fiasco

We had high hopes based upon reviews we read, but will never stay at Aladdin again. Prior to our arrival we called and asked if the swimming pool would be open...and told yes. On our first day there we enjoyed the pool area and sun deck despite the fact that one pool and the cafe area were closed due to construction. On day 2 (Tues) things got much worse. We got to the pool when it opened at 10am, and by 11am it was already very full. An announcement was made on the PA system that due to construction new signage for Planet Hollywood being installed), the pool area was CLOSED IMMEDIATELY FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK! All the guests looked at each other in amazement. A few staff members were there and said that arrangements had been made that if we wanted to, we could use the pool at the Westin hotel nearby. ???. In a few minutes time, Hotel Security (serious looking muscle) came out and told us we all had to leave immediately, and if we had any complaints to go to the Front Desk. We went to our room to change and I called the FD to speak to a manager, and was told they would call me right back. After waiting in the room for 45 minutes, we went to the FD where a crowd from the pool had formed. The FD staff were just as confused as to why the pool had closed. They were offering $10 cab fare to go to the Westin (only covered one way)...was not well received. Why did they close the pool (during Easter Break) without warning? In a few minutes a guest returned having gone to Westin informing the FD staff that the pool area at Westin was completely packed and no room for swimming or laying out. FD staff was not prepared to answer what we were to do next. We left after an hour...too much stress for our vacation, and went shopping. When we came back we noticed that they had a sign at the pool entrance stating it was closed for a private party????? What now? Changing the story? Then much later that afternoon we looked down from our room to see the pool area was open??? On day 3 we called the FD at 8am to ask if the pool would be open. Absolutely YES they said...10am sharp! At 10am we arrived at pool with many others to see a sign posted on door that pool would not open until 12pm...we were fuming. Back to room. At 12pm we returned...to a packed pool lobby...and at 12:15, the doors still had not opened. sure enough...here comes Hotel Security to tell us that pool would not open until 1pm and if we had complaints to go to FD. Rude, bullish man, with not a note of concern in his voice. We marched down to FD (larger crowd now) and spoke w/ the FD Manager who did not know what the deal was, or what alternatives they would offer. While there a guest came down from the pool area to let us know that they announced the pool would now not open until 2pm. Kids were crying, everyone was upset, and all of our requests to speak to Senior Management were denied. It was the single most unprofessional response/handling of a situation I have witnessed in the hospitality industry. Staff was clueless, no thought as to what to do for the guests, and the only messages were being delivered by harsh security personnel. Construction managers clearly trumped hotel managers, and in the end, no one was managing any thing! What a fiasco. At 2pm, the pool opened, we laid down...just as the first of the large thunderhead clouds came overhead and blocked the sun. Vacation over! This may end up being the most expensive signs ever hung on a hotel in Vegas, because they will surely cost a bunch of $$ in lost business. Never again!

terrible customer service and poor management

The first night we had to call security four times because of the noise level coming from the room next door. The security people did not respond in a timely fashion, and instead wanted to argue with me. The room was very dark and and you could barely see to find your way around. The bedding only had the comforter to use, and we had to call for other linens. The second night we had the same experience as the first---the room next door came in late and drunk and screaming at the top of their lungs. We called security again, and they came in about ten minutes. At check out the next morning, the on-duy manager said they were sorry and did not offer any adjustments to our bill.

Totally dissatisfied customer

The Planet Hollywood experience was a total hassel from the moment we checked into our room. Our room was not a renovated room. When we approached the staff about it they apologized but acted unconcerned about how to correct the problem. They finally said we could have a renovated room and they couldn't get us into that room until the next day. The next day the staff expected us to checkout of the hotel at 11am and recheck in after 3pm. We told them that was not accepable. The room that we were currently in also had a plumbing problem. The toilet and sink were backed up. Needless to say the whole ordeal took two days out of our anniversary vacation. We were very dissatisfied about it and we will not return to planet hollywood hotel in the future!!

Planet Hollywood Hotel

Prices went up on everything, it must be to cover the cost of the costumes worn by stars that are in plexiglass enclosures on the room walls. Frankly, some are scary when you are sleeping at night and they get in the way! A 24 hour coffee shop is always a staple in any good casino. This one didn't have a working grill after 9 pm so our choices were limited after a late airline arrival. I will not stay at this hotel again, which is too bad.

to much construction

They should have waited to open until all of the construction was done. Every morning by 7 am we were woke up to a loud drilling, pounding sound. After all this is suppose to be a vacation, if you want to sleep in you should be able to, especially after being out late every night. We called the first morning and asked what the noise was and they said that the 6th floor was under construction, that was the floor we were on. I told her that when we checked in they did not tell us that and she said she could connect me to the front desk and they could tell me when construction would be done. That is all that they had to say about it so it was kind of like it sucks to be you!!!They did not care at all. Vacations are far and few in between and there is a lot of other nice hotels to choose from, that would be peace and quite in the morning.

Worst Experience ever!!!

When we entered this 4 star hotel room there was a blood stain on the bed sheets (but we did not notice because it was very late and we were exhausted of the long trip). We called the front desk at 9am the next morning and told them about the disgusting stain and about changing the room. I thought they would offer an immediate change. But I was wrong. That same night we felt like going to the club that was inside the hotel, so I went to the concierge to make reservation. The concierge took our last names (I notice he did not write anything down) and said to be there before 10:30pm. Surprisingly, when we arrived at the night club our reservation was never made. So we couldn?t go inside the club before paying $50.00 dollars. If the reservation would have been done it would have been free. As our terrible experience at the planet Hollywood continued we were on our way to the Grand Canon so we rented a car. Again I went to the concierge to ask if there was a shuttle to the lot he said no. He said you have to pay a taxi to the airport and then a bus will take you to the rental ?even if it is not in the airport location?. When we arrived at the rental office in our taxi of course we saw the shuttle. It was free of charge the only thing that needed to be done was for the concierge to call and schedule a pickup. After these aggravating 4 days I went downstairs to the lobby and asked to speak to the manager. He did care... He gave us his business card and asked me to fill out a survey and mail to the address on the paper. I have been in many hotels through out the US and I have never gotten such horrible service. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Planet Ha Ha Hallywood...what a joke!

First of all the staff needs to learn what Customer Service is and who in the end pays their salary...us the consumer! The staff was not accommodating nor could careless that you were satisfied with our stay. The buffet was sub-par and the casino is small. Get more for your money at other hotels that would love for you to stay with them!!

PH

We thought it was very uncomfortable that we had to go through the "check in process" which was basically a trick to go into to the time share seminar. Also everyday we were approached about free shows and other promos in a very tacky way. I know that sounds funny in Vegas but I have to Vegas 8 times. I have stayed at most of the hotels on the Strip and I enjoyed the PH the least. Also the room was very uncomfortable and noisey. The A/C made a banging noise all night and it didn't work well.
