Stay! Play! Eat! or Shuttle!

The front desk people were extremely nice and helpful.....Especially Lisa! We arrived early but still were able to get our rooms. I had to move the next day to a Disable room but there no problems getting it done, again thanks to Lisa! The Hotel is off the beaten path which provides for a quieter safer environment but if you want to get to Freemont Street or Harrah's they provided regular free shuttles up to 10 PM. If you are looking for a great jump off point for a real inexpensive room that is large and comfortable then Sam's is a great way to have a good time. They have a food court to get your morning coffee and the Buffett is average but if you want a really great Surf and Turf then "Billy Bob's" is top notch! I would and will stay at Sam's again! If you have never driven in Vegas traffic before you need to avoid all rush hours 8 am to 10 am and 3 pm to 7 pm. They drive dangerously crazy in Vegas. Hope this was helpful and if you have the time take a day to go to the West Grand Canyon but make sure to take cash and expect 2.5 hour drive to and from with at least 2 - 3 hours for viewing and taking pictures. What an experience!!!!

Dining tip: In Hotel

Several different eating establishments including McDonalds, Pizza, Buffet, TGIF (poor service), Billy Bob's which I rate as a great place for service and quality dining. There is a small shop for buying anything you may have forgotten to bring and also Spirits by the bottle for your room when you just need to relax. The water show is great if you kids.

26 bucks a night!

We stayed here for three nights as a place to ease into Las Vegas life. Sams is a 'smaller' resort (small only in Las Vegas) but nice. The pool was not available during our stay, which was a disappointment. Because it is off the strip and well off the strip we found a car quite useful. The Mexican restaurant on grounds was very good. We also had breakfast in the Fridays daily because there was an on-going special for a good price. It also has three or four recognizable chain restaurants, a movie theatre, and a bowling alley. There is also a western wear store and two floors of casino games. I think this would be a very good spot for a family to stay ... there was a light and water show in their indoor park three or four times a day that was interesting to catch. The room was good size and very clean, we had an outside room not on the courtyard (the park). Courtyard rooms are more expensive probably.

Low key

Comfortable but not a 5-star stay. It was clean and convenient for what we needed. I would recommend this to you if you want to stay someplace away from the Strip.

Not what we expected

We were surprised, Sams Town was not a dingy western resort, but a modern well maintained resort with all the amenities yor expect from a more expensive property. The location on Boulder Hwy. is both good and bad based on your taste, worth a try. We will be back for sure!

Nice Change from the strip

As a frequent trade show visitor I thought I would try something off the strip and I was very pleased with the decision. The rooms were fine but above all quiet. I liked the pace and lower stakes on the tables and the movie theatre is a nice change of pace.

SamsTown

We had an excellent time at SAMs. We have and will continue to recommend this hotel. Everyone was nice, polite and pleasant. Make sure you sign up for the card and you receive more deals than you know what to do with. Loved the nightly free light show, wonderful breakfast buffet, and the room was perfect daily. We are looking forward to our next visit in a few months. Great for couples and families.
