Much nicer than expected!

I stayed here on a Friday night, having made the reservation that day. Check in was smooth. I got a very nice corner room (free upgrade I think!) which was recently renovated. Totally clean, bed was comfortable and bathroom good sized. I will definitely stay here again!

In the heart of the Fremont experience

Best value among hotels in the Fremont street area. (I paid less than $40 per night). Hotel is newly renovated and there is no resort fee (and no free internet access). I've been to Vegas for countless times, so I didn't mind staying far away from The Strip. If you are an early sleeper, you will find the noise from the Fremont Experience disturbing.

Missing Something

The remodel of the hotel was done very well. The room was very nice and the bedding was great, very comfortable. However, there were a lot of little things that kept this hotel from getting a 5 star rating from me. A do not disturb sign was not available even after asking for one twice; that was just annoying when the housekeeper walked in on us before 9am. You couldn't find Check In because there weren't any signs directing you there or even over the desk. The cocktail servers EXPECTED a tip every single time they even spoke to you let alone brought you anything. I think I am a good tipper, but please don't act like you expect it and then walk off in a huff when I don't have a dollar bill right that second!

Sisters together

Hotel was clean, slots were not extrordinarily tight...the grill had great food. The only negatives were 1) no fridge or microwave 2) Coffee was $2.50 per K-Cup! This should be complimentary! 3) Internet is $9.95 per day PER DEVICE! Thought that was ridiculous! In this day and age with people having multiple devices... I took my I-pad, laptop and Android tablet. I refused to give them ANYTHING because of that policy! Get into the 21st century people! 4) Breakfast is not available all day. Otherwise a decent hotel.

Wouldn't chose The D again...

My main complaint with this hotel is their internet policy and phone system. They charge for wireless in your room. And if you have two devices - they told me I'd be charged for each one!! I wanted to not only use my laptop for work purposes, I wanted to use my I-Pad for leisure. No way was I paying double for something most hotels provide for free to their Valued Guests. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The hall floors throughout the hotel looked and felt 'lumpy' in areas. We ate several times at the Grill. Great food and the prices were acceptable for Vegas. We were going to try their steakhouse but couldn't see paying $40+ for a steak. Their phone system left a lot to be desired as I tried to leave a wake up call. There was no easy way to set it for one day and you had to listen to all messages first (they leave hotel advertising messages on the phone). Frustrating! I ended up using my cell phone instead. They finally got the TV to work the night before we left. Free Valet parking was appreciated. All in all, I guess I've been spoiled by my many stays with Marriott. This hotel just didn't make the grade compared to them.

We purchased the American Casino Guide before leaving and used many of their coupons for 2 for 1 buffets, free slot play and match play. It MIRE than paid for the $13.95 cost of the book.

Corvette Club Weekend

After an excelerating ride through Death Valley, we arrived at Th "D" in downtown Las Vegas, where they had a reserved parking area for our Corvette's. This Hotel/Casino has recently been renovated and is very nice with a great location on Fremont Street by one of the bandstands. If you are a light sleeper and go to bed before 2am, do not get an even numberd room which are on the same side as the bandstand, ask for the quite side, which we did on our second night. Great place if you are staying downtown. CCCC

Just okay, not the major reno they promote

The D has done a great job of re-doing the casino area and making the first floor look bran new. The rooms, however, look like the slapped up some paint and tided up, nothing more. The desk/dresser is new and the flat panel TV is fine, not huge. They painted one wall a contrasting color, put up a fancy headboard, but the room still has that low end feel to it. The "closet" is just an open space with a rod, ironing board and iron open to view. The bed, which is supposed to be a "custom" Serta mattress that you can buy for your own home, was nothing special. And, they have the nerve to put a Keurig coffee make in the room, they charge you $2.50 per cup of Starbucks coffee and $.00 per cup of K cup coffee. The woman at the front desk, who a presume thought she was being funny, said "Well, would you rather pay a resort fee?". Not amused at all. They actually have you sign that you acknowledge they will charge you for those items. And make sure not to open one of the bottles of water, I have no idea how much that would cost. Overall, nothing wrong here, just nothing special.

Since the remodel, I think the management did an excellent job. I didn't eat here but there were other eating places nearby. The room was great, the staff friendly and casino games wonderful, especially the vintage games on the second floor. Will be back again.
