A Great Option
A fantastic location! Madison Square Park is located at your door step. There are nightly activities in the park and a fun little burger place called 'The Shake Shack' - be prepared for a long line but it goes fast. There is a lovely Orthodox Church directly across from the hotel that is worth a look. The Hotel itself is good enough - clean and basic. The rooms are a bit small and outdated. However, the location is great and safe. I walked everywhere - Greenwich, Meatpacking District, Lower Eastside, Chelsea Pier - without concern. And if you don't feel like walking you can catch a cab on 5th or 6th Ave to practically anywhere in the city for less than $10. If you are looking for luxury accommodations - this hotel isn't for you. But if you want to explore the awesome neighborhoods of NYC in a real, authentic way, welcome home!

Discomfort Inn- Stay Away
This was the worst hotel experience we've had. There was no comfort at the comfort inn. We had two bedroom room- the heat didn't work. The hot water was warm at best. The lights in the bathroom did not work. How can they run a hotel like this? We are still trying to get our money back- and the hotel manager has not followed up with an answer.

Not bad, but not great either
Visiting NYC just before Christmas to see holiday windows, the tree at Rockefeller Center and other holiday related activities. The location was great... very easy to navigate to find popular attractions, drug store, atm's, subway and taxis. The size of the room left A LOT to be desired. I expected small what we found was teeny tiny -- had to pick up the suitcase to move it to the middle of the room. The power went off several times during 1 day and the cable went out as well. The breakfast was included but so was the B rating. We plan to pay up to avoid a similar experience next time.

Good Location, terrible service
I stayed for business and the hotel was around the corner from my client and a few blocks from the train station. I booked two rooms ( for myself and a colleague) for non-smoking, but on arrival, the staff told me it was not booked that way. When I proved it was, they told the truth that they were totally booked and didn't have it available. I would have prefered the truth first. Then they told my colleague to check out the room to see if it was suitable, but mine would be ok because "nobody ever stays in that room, so the smoke smell shouldn't be too bad". I can't say the hotel is dirty, but it is old and really needs a freshen up. I don't expect a big room in Manhatten for a modest two star price level, but these rooms were tiny. The bed was against one wall (with the window and noisy window air conditioner right against the bed) and you could only sqeeze by the other side and foot of the bed. Also the bathroom was very tiny and the air didn't really make it in there, and it was in the high 90's, so I noticed. Also the internet was virtually impossible to get working for both me and my associate. Also, for some reason you could only get a cell signal in the room if you held your phone up to the window in the bathroom. I will be visiting this area frequently, but don't think i will use this hotel again.

Short walk from hotel
BLT Prime: 111 East 22nd Street, New York about a 5 min walk, but well worth it. One of the most enjoyable steak houses I have been to in a long time.

It Is What It Is
You get what you pay for. I wanted an inexpensive but central hotel in Chelsea, and that's what I got. Early check-in was not accommodated. Desk staff grudgingly cordial but more like indifferent. No damage done and no memories incurred from this place, but I would probably stay again if my criteria stay the same. Tip: take the second elevator back, near the dining area (not sure the first one really runs).

For comfort food (especially after an evening of partying), try the restaurant called LASAGNA at 8th Ave. at 20th St.

Great Location
Stayed the weekend with a bunch of girls for my 25th birthday. Great price for our budgets. Safe, clean, great location, close to subway and very friendly staff. One staff member even went out of his way to reopen the breakfast bar for us even though we were late! We will be coming back here again!

Normal, standard. Too much money.
Desk staff perfectly fine, room fine, everything fine. Almost 200 dollars is kind of a crock, though. But that seems to be the standard in Manhattan for a place that's not a tiny tiny room with construction outside and mice dancing on one's sleeping face, if reviews are to be believed. It just makes me want to avoid staying in hotels in New York!
