AMAZING NYC TRIP!!!

We stayed at the InterContinental from June 20-26 2011 and had an absolutely wonderful experience!! The entire hotel staff was extremely friendly, professional and attentive. They addressed us by name, offered assitance with directions or umbrellas whenever we were heading out, etc... The room was impeccable, beautifully designed with VERY comfortable beds, bedding and towels. Large flatscreen tv, computer, coffee and more. Perfectly located in the heart of all the action and literally next door to John's Pizza, the most delicious pizza on the planet!!! Also literally right across the street from the subway as well. Our trip was EPIC and our hotel visit was as well. My husband and I and our 2 boys, ages, 6 & 8 would definitely come back and stay here again. 5 STARS ALL THE WAY!!!!!

Great Hotel, Excellent Location

Very friendly staff, very helpful, even gave us a higher floor for a better view when a well known travel company booked us on the 6th floor. The hotel room was very clean, centrally located to all shows and great restaurants, couldn't ask for more.

Might stay there again

Great location; great room view; great guest room (especially, the bathroom is amazing). Unfortunately, we can't say the same for the staff and management. We observed a lack of attention, order and care in general (especially housekeeping !!!). Also, we didn't like the idea of charging extra money for business center and internet connection at room. However, we might consider staying at InterContinental Hotel again along with a big wish of improvement in their service.

Right in the middle of where it's at

Very comfortable hotel, good sized room for New York, excellent bathroom, and fantastic location, just two blocks from Times Square, and within walking distance - even with a ten year-old - of pretty well all the attractions apart from Coney Island! OK, we took the subway to Battery Park, but that was after a long day of doing other stuff, and riding the subway was part of the experience. Not much of a view from the 4th floor, but when you're minutes away from seeing the real thing close up, and out all day, only using the room for sleeping and washing, the upgrade offered on arrival didn't seem necessary. The room was cleaned every day, and towels changed on demand and sometimes more. Yes, the 'snack caddy' was weighted, so if you lifted something to have a look and didn't put it back quickly, it would be charged, (we had read this on a review before we went) but the staff pointed it out to us on arrival, so there was nothing sneaky about it.The staff in the foyer and in front of the hotel ('bellhops' doesn't really cover what they do) were extremely helpful and friendly, with tips on where to eat and drink, and the Concierge ([...]) was able to book us Express tickets for the Empire State Building, with an option to buy regular tickets if the queue was short when we got there, and claim a refund. Can't really comment on the hotel's restaurant or bar, as we went out early every day and had breakfast on the way, but the coffee bar downstairs does takeaway (and tea!) to to get you up and on your way. The Ca Va menu looked a little fussy for our taste, with a ten year-old to consider. As we didn't use the hotel restaurant, we probably could have got by on a simpler, cheaper hotel, but for comfort and location, and as part of the whole New York experience, the Intercontinental Times Square gets our vote.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Go to the Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Centre) to get great views of the city, including the Empire State Building. Queues are much shorter than at the ESB, and for a bit extra, you can go twice in one day, to see it in daylight and again after sunset with the City lit up. Look out for vouchers at other attractions or from the Concierge for $2 discount per ticket (then remember to take them!).
