Classic charm

This opulent jewel of NYC was a deal for a winter weekend stay. Close to all the attractions and fine dining midtown has to offer, quick cab ride to trendy downtown. Room was clean, comfy bed and clean bathroom. Check in was quick and staff friendly. Order a martini at Bull & Bear with the blue cheese stuffed olives, killer.

Luxurious Mother/Daughter Get Away

It was a wonderful experience from the lobby to the room. Beautiful, classic hotel with amazing architecture and wonderful service. Mohammed was especially courteous and helpful to my mother&I& really helped us to enjoy our visit!!! My only complaint is that there were no bathrooms in the lobby or in the bar area. It was kind of inconvenient having to go all the way up to my room to go to the bathroom when I was enjoying music and wine in the bar!! Otherwise, it was a wonderful experience and I can't wait for another good sale!!

great stay with a minor issue

i spend 5 nights to spend new years eve, from december 29 to jan 3, everything was great, the room was excellent, a little old the room stuff and you can see that it needed a minor fixed up. the only issue that i had was that i reserved a KING SUPERIOR ROOM and instead i got a QUEEN SUPERIOR ROOM, i called the front desk and went to talk to the so the can change my room, but they said that the queen bed that i had in my room was their king size bed and that there were nothing that they could do. so i had to settle with the queen size bed. besides that everything else was great.

must do if the price is right

The Waldorf has so much to offer in terms of class, tradition and antique beauty of its public spaces. It is also well situated to walk to times square, central park etc. The down side is the room situation. They are old and some things don't work, and not what you would expect from a 4.5 or 5 star hotel - also no views to speak of. On the plus side, we stayed in the towers and they have a great complimentary breakfast in the astoria lounge. We got a good price which made the stay worth it, but at 5 star prices the room situation would be a real downer.

A good way to relax

Our stay was relaxing and decidedly more welcoming and organized than previous occasions. Despite dealing with delays due to computer failure at check in, on one of the busiest days, the staff was helpful, respectful and determined to make it all work. We found that overall, the staff were much more responsive and good to deal this time.

Not as good as I'd hoped

One side of the mattress had broken springs. Luckily it was just me so I only needed one side of the bed. I called and complained and they said they'd change the mattress, but they didn't. The heater was old and it took a while to get the room to a good temperature. Also, they kept forgetting to leave a newspaper outside my door each morning. On the plus side, the reception desk person was friendly, showed me to my room, and refused a tip. For the price I expected better.
