W New York - great place to stay
Great hotel experience. Room was adequate for the needs of 2 people - staff friendly and attentive. Check in is very easy. Location is great, close to subway and buses - NYC hopon hop off tour bus stop directly across the street

very clean and nicely furnished
very clean and nicely furnished room, however was very small. comfortable bed and good price. great location. walking distance to times square and great for theatres and shopping. everytime we walked into the lobby it was overly busy with people queuing to check-in or out or something. was a bit confusing and we were unsure why people were always hanging around in the lobby. service was a little to be desired. front desk staff seemed to have better things to do or be more involved in their own conversations than looking after the guests. would stay there again as the hotel was nice, location good, and price reasonable.

The Juggler of Potatoes and Onions
Great hideaway (now and then)
The W prides itself on style, which makes the hotel a great place to stay. From designer bath products to juicy apples in the gym, to the Whisky Blue bar downstairs, everything has a fashionable touch. The staff is very helpful, trying to offer personalized service where they can. That said, this comes at a price. Food and drink are very expensive even by New York standards and, if you overlook the trendy trappings, the rooms are quite small and basic. My main gripe was the cost of Internet service.

Short walk from hotel
You're right in the heart of things. You're just a few blocks from the Japan Society, which often has interesting exhibitions. Or it's a doable walk to Times Square.

Hotel, great, room itself, merely good
Convenient midtown-east location. Staff is very nice. Everything was smooth. Bar and lounge was nice, complete with obligatory over-priced drinks. Room was of course small and there was a big not terribly attractive nor quiet heater/ac unit in there, but if you're using the room mostly for sleeping and maybe lounging in the morning, it's perfectly fine.

Not the best location but otherwise good
All of the extras (room service, drinks etc) at the hotel were quite pricey - but this was expected. Be sure to avoid touching ANYTHING on the minibar unless you want to pay for it- It was pressure senstive and very expensive. We accidentally racked up $100 worth of charges. Staff were very helpful and removed the charges. With the exception of one specific evening concierge, staff were reluctant to make recommendations for reasonably priced restaraunts, bars etc. It seemed that they were only familiar with expensive, downtown locations. Hotel was close to the subway and walking distance from many attractions. Room was small but clean. Bliss toiletries were fantastic. Shower does not have a door - expect to get the bathroom a bit wet with every shower. Bathroom door did not lock. TV was often unwatchable due to digital glitches. Bed was very comfy. View from room wasn't great - we looked into a parking garage. In future, we would probably not stay here since there was very litte of interest in the direct vicinity of the hotel. The area seemed to be more of a financial district. Though as mentioned, it was a short subway or walk to areas of interest.

Nightlife tip:
Short drive from hotel
Just a few subway stops away (or a quick and cheap cab) is the Lower East Side. Would highly recommend this area for dinner and drinks if you don't want to spend a ton of money. Young and very mixed crowd. Check out Pianos for drinks.

W - Great Hotel - friendly staff
The hotel was located near Grand Central Station, which made it easy to attend the U.S. Open Tennis 2010. We took subway #7 to Flushing Meadows Station, which brought us to the entrance of the stadium.

Swanky NY Hotel
Beautiful lobby, great location - within walking distance of our event. Very dark rooms - hard to put makeup on or tell how you looked. Don't know if that's NY or if all W hotels are like this.

The Original W
W is always cool, this one was a little different than some I've stayed at. It was a little less hip and a little more plain, and much more brightly lit. But it's still the W. The staff were nice, security took themselves a little too seriously when you returned to the hotel late. It was a good experience. They should most definately extend their restaurant hours.
