A comfortable place to stay in Erie

I was in Erie to interview at LECOM and SpringHill Suites was a perfect combination of location and comfort for me. There are a number of restaurants in the area that deliver and they have a mini convenience store near the font desk for any incidentals you may need. All in all, this is a great place to stay. The only think I didn't like was the lack of certain TV stations, but I wasn't there to watch TV so it was no big deal.

Great family hotel!

This is our second time we have stayed in this hotel. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. Indoor pool is perfect size for both adults and children. Temperature of the pool was great too. The fitness room also suited our needs as well. They have 24 hour coffee, tea, hot chocolate available in the lobby with an assortment of creams and sugar/sugar substitutes. They also had a large bowl of apples available for the taking. When looking for restaurant ideas that were "non-chain", the front staff presented me with a typed out list of restaurants. They also were able to print out directions for me. The only problem we encountered was the hair dryer in the room sparked and started smelling when I used it. However, the front desk apologize several times and maintence fixed the issue while we were away. The only caution I have is for people with feather pillow allergies. I remembered from the previous year that they have feather pillows in the rooms. I'm allergic to them so I was able to request non-feather pillows. While there were no feather pillows in the room when we arrived, I could tell that the dander from them was still in the room. I had to pick up some allergy medicine which worked great, but if you have a sensitivity to feather pillows you should be prepared for.

Comfortable and convenient

This was a good experience - the beds and rooms are better than average clean and comfortable. My only complaint was that the breakfast was too crowded - I didn't get anything to eat either day!

Nice hotel

The hotel was very nice and they had a friendly staff. The breakfast on Sunday does not start until 7:00 am and we had to leave before then so the staff let us grab whatever was out. Just the hot breakfast stuff wasn't prepared yet. The only complaint I have about the room is that there were 6 of us and it was difficult to fit everyone into the side with the beds to watch TV. I'm not sure how they could fix this besides adding another TV to the side of the room with the sleeper sofa. All in all , I would definitely stay there again.

Amazing Large rooms, beautifully laid out

Only negative is that there wasn't a sign to tell you where to turn off the interchange road to turn into it. If coming from the 79 its on the right, if coming from interchange rd take a left into it before going over 79. It is part of a new development with not much around it. Its tucked back behind risen earth berm, on the top of the hill, overlooks 79, and not visible from where you enter. Take a turn into the developing plaza which is a T intersection as you enter, you face the earth berm. We had no problems checking in at 11pm, suitcase carts help. Pool hours 6am-11pm with fun music playing, L shaped pool allowed our young family to be in the shallow end without interfering with lap swimmer. 24HR Fitness center has small window that you could keep an eye on older swimmers. The foyer serves an amazing breakfast of scrambled eggs, pour your own waffles in addition to the continental typicals, and has a fireplace. Deduct the price of your family having breakfast at a restaurant in considering the price of the hotel. The decor is modern--but unprentious and finally a place visually appealing and relaxing without the busy country patterns. The hotel layout isolates us well from neighbors. Layout: door opens and you don't see the beds and feel like your checking into a bedroom, but rather a small getaway. You face a small kitchen sink with a coffee maker on its granite surface with cupboards above and below. Cupboards above contain a microwave and storage if you wish to have a pantry, below in the cupbd is a minifridge with addtl storage. To the left of this is a switch to turn on a lamp. There is a loveseat, chair, two floor lamps, and coffee table that splits in the middle which can be repositioned. Above the loveseat are two ledges with artwork on them. The desk and chair are in the same area with internet hook ups. A small stand is in the walkway to the beds and has a large LCD that can be spun towards the LR, could spin a little further as half of those in that room can see it. Recent movies not released into video avail. PPV, free HBO. Beds were two doubles, ledge above beds with canned lights with dimmer, radio plays nature sounds and has nightlight on top of it so you can find it in the morning; heat/ac register was set with thermostat on wall and no one got cold in the middle of the night to adj. it. Closet has extra linens in zippered plastic bag, sheets were crisp and each bed had four pillows of different firmness. View--not from the back side, we saw the back of peoples homes that once were alone in the woods. Ask for the front of the hotel to try for a view of the roads. The bathroom was off the sleeping area with a vanity and sink seperate from the shower and toilet. I love the decor of neutrals with touches of buttery yellow and blue carpets--very unbusy and relaxing. DEFINITELY stay here for an extended stay, or for the night, the pool and the breakfast justify the little extra.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

It is a little bit of walk back/up the hill but restaurants were a short drive down the entrance and straight over interchange road. Great shopping take interchange to peach street and take a left for the peach street mall--2 story barnes and noble at that T. Erie also has presque isle which is a wonderful beach with vistas, and the zoo.
