It is a new and nicely done room at 10th floor. I attended a convention. The location is convenient but the neighbours are poor and many beggers bothered me while walking around the hotel. Alos Train to the philadelphia International airport is a great thing. The station is right nxt to it.

Great place to stay

Great place to stay - excellent location in Centre City. Immediately adjacent to Reading Market so there is no problem with finding a bite to eat. Rooms were comfortable and A/C worked well. Only complaint - pool wasn't looking so good. Water was cloudy and the pool area had a musky odor to it.

Great for what I needed

Went to Philadelphia to see a concert at the Trocador Theater. The hotel was almost directly across the street and was within walking distance of various restaurants, shopping areas as well as other attractions. The hotel was neat, clean, extremely friendly staff and a very comfortable room. Only objection would be to the parking arrangements. Due to all of the one way streets and various buildings within close proximity of each other, parking was a bit of a nightmare. The built in ramp for the hotel was run by a separate company and was $31 a night, but I suppose that is an issue that most big cities will have.

Dining tip: Not Applicable

Philadelphia's restaurants and bars all seemed to be closed by 10 p.m. Again, it might be a common issue, but where I'm from (Buffalo, NY), most bars are open until 4 a.m. and have 24 hour diners aplenty.

Very good quality at a very good price

The Hilton Garden Inn in Philadelphia is a quality hotel in an excellent location right on the border of the historic Old City and the mid-town skyscrapers and shopping centers of Center City.

The Ordinary Stay

The Hilton Garden Inn was a great hotel for visiting Philly. The location was great in regards to sight-seeing and food. Directly next to the hotel is Market Reading Terminal and that was a pleasant surprise.

Great location, iffy surroundings

The hotel is your standard business class hotel. Nothing special, nothing bad. Check in time was 4pm which I felt was a bit late. The entrance to the hotel is underneath the parking garage which covers the entire street like a large overpass. The result is a sometimes seedy-feeling (but apparently safe) area right around the entrance. There are a couple of shops under the overpass as well. A popular (long-distance) bus pickup is across the street, and one or two homeless people were sitting (harmlessly) along the sidewalk. While we never had a problem or felt unsafe, I wasn't expecting the entrance to feel like it was underground. There was another entrance on an adjacent street, but usually a map wouldn't point you toward that. Otherwise the location is great. Market East and a metro stop on the blue line (Market at 11th) are less than a block away. City Hall is 3 or so blocks west, and the Independence Hall area is 5-6 blocks east. It was a good, central location for exploring.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

There's a Wawa across the street from the entrance. Like all Wawa's, there are no-fee ATMs inside.
