Great stay!

[...] The room, and entire hotel, were immaculate and employees were very courteous. We loved the french greetings! Great location for sightseeing throughout the city with tons of restaurants and shopping within a few blocks. Park the car and walk everywhere. Bathrooms were extra large in our room style, having a separate shower stall and bathtub. Nice granite countertop. We even had fresh cut orchids in the bathroom vase. Two flat screens & two Bose systems in suite. My wife was ready to move in (or at least steal the mattress) and we would defintely stay again. A great experience for the price paid.

Would return in a heartbeat

Location is right in the heart off the city near shops and restaurants. Staff was courteous and helpful. We loved the classy decor and spent several night hanging out in the hotel lounge getting drinks and watching the crowd outside.

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

Valet parking at the Sofitel was pricey ($39 per night) but not significantly more than area garages (in the range of $25-30 per night). Plus we were not charged fees for going in & out and didn't have to lug our suitcases several blocks to a garage.

Urban and Luxurious

Sofitel was perfect - staff went out of their way to ask guests if they needed assistance or had questions. Our group found it to be family friendly (others in our group had a toddler) while still maintaining an urban chic atmosphere. Great location and very reasonable prices for the area!

EXCELLENT PHILLY EXPERIENCE

We visited from Ireland to celebrate our 40 th wedding anniversary in the company of US relatives . It had been our first visit to Philadelphia , and for the duration of our stay over a 7 day period we had no bad experiences .We were even able to overlook a few days where Temperatures of 95 F and 80% humidity had the natives complaining ,but fortunately these weather conditions were short lived. An air- conditioned hotel was most welcome.

A Good Value

My cousin and I shared a room for 4 nights at this hotel while we were in town for a family reunion. We had a room with 2 double beds which was quite large and also quite attractive. The bathroom was huge with separate tube and shower areas. There was a flat screen tv, a bose radio and the beds were luxuriously appointed. We thought it was a great room and that we had gotten a really good value for our money. Parking was high in my opinion ($36/day), but after the first night my cousin found a lot around the corner for $24. We did not partake of room service or the restaurant but we did enjoy cocktails at the upscale bar. The concierge was very helpful with sightseeing info. The lobby was beautiful and it was kind of sweet how the staff would say "bon jour". That made it a little extra-special.

Rittenhouse Square is an urban park only a few blocks away. There's a place called Parc right across the street that has vintage cocktails and great food. The inside spills out into the street in the nice weather. Nice restaurant, but not inexpensive. Also try out Monk's Cafe on 16th St. If you are a beer aficionado, they have lots to choose from. They also serve dinner and have wonderful deserts. We had some great breakfasts at both Marathon Grill and Little Pete's Diner.

Elegant and great location

The hotel was elegant, yet comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful (providing directions, even loaning us umbrellas during an unexpected summer downpour). The hotel is in a great location, close to shops, restaurants, and public transportation. The coffee at the hotel coffee shop was terrific.

Great and Accommodating stay

The two greatest assets that Hotel Sofitel can showcase are the location of the hotel and it's service. The hotel is located 2 blocks away from Rittenhouse Square which is the center of shopping as well as outdoor restaurants on the park. Everyday we walked around the Rittenhouse square and enjoyed it's ambiance. The nightlife around the hotel is also phenomenal as there are a number of lounges around the hotel as well as the hotel lobby. The hotel service was impeccable. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, the staff took care of everything we needed/requested in a timely and warm manner. We requested a few things for our room (i.e. refrigerator, extra pillows, extra water) and the staff came within minutes of the request. The concierge and front desk people were also very informative and amiable in all answering all our questions. We also requested a later check out and the hotel was more then willing to accommodate us as well. Valet attendants were helpful and friendly as well. Great service! The only slightly area which the hotel could improve upon is the room décor as we were expecting a little more from a "chic French" hotel. The hotel lobby is beautiful but the room colors were a slightly drab. However, the size of the room was great (we had a jr. 1 br suite and had ample space) and the cleanliness of the room was wonderful. We would definitely recommend Hotel Sofitel and come back to the hotel during future stays in Philadelphia.

Almost 100%

Overall everything was excellent. Did not care for the coffee in the restaurant. Service was excellent as was the cleanliness of the room. Very attentive staff. Nitpicking about the coffee, but that's me because I am a huge coffee connoisseur. Also would have like to see a coffee maker in the room. However, who picked out the carpet for the hallways (at least for the 7th floor?) Does the term "vertigo" Come to mind. I know it was not only me because a conversation between two other guests in the elevator indicated they would not want to navigate the hallway while drunk! Anyway, I would not hesitate to return. Good central location in center city Philly. Keep up the good work (but change the coffee).
