I made a booking through Stayz for a property in Adelaide. From start to finish it was a confusing and distressing process. This was made even more stressful by the fact that I was travelling for grief related reasons and the booking was last minute.Check in processAt the time I made the booking I believed the process was complete. At about 2pm on the afternoon of check in I had still not received any check in instructions so I made a phone call. I was then sent a link where the check in instructions were placed behind a previously undisclosed paywall.To access the instructions I was required to either pay a 550 bond that would be fully returned, or a 50 deposit that would be forfeited. These charges were not disclosed in the cost breakdown at the point of sale through Stayz where all charges are required to be listed. In order to complete this process on a third party platform I was also required to provide biometric data including my licence and a selfie. This felt unsafe and intrusive and was not disclosed at the time of booking through Stayz.Once I completed this process I was given only two dot points of instructions:The lock box is located on centre postThe code is …Misleading listing descriptionThis may seem trivial but after driving all day, having difficulty with parking and finding the property, I became very distressed when I could not locate or open the lock box on the centre post as described in the instructions.
