The Aurora Inn is a beautiful place and I would definitely recommend staying here just for the atmosphere alone. However, the rooms are not what I would expect in a hotel of this quality.
They aren't awful, but they lack any and all of the little conveniences which, in my opinion, make a stay top tier and stress free. I stayed in the dog section, which I felt was completely shut off from the rest of the hotel. There is no carpeting in those rooms, which I can understand... However, smooth floors have no traction, which made moving around difficult for my dog. I've stayed at many dog friendly hotels and all of them, aside from the Aurora had carpeting.
Examples of the inconveniences I mentioned are as follows... There are no plugs, like anywhere! I had to unplug lamps to be able to charge my phone! There are no hooks to hang up a towel or jacket, aside from the closets, which have the infuriating locked in hangers. The bathroom is tiny, no vent fan and no space to put your shampoo etc in the shower The TV is fixed to the wall, so you cannot angle it watsoever.
There are no flat surfaces to set anything down..Every surface has something on it that takes up any usable space.
The beds are pretty comfortable, but the pillows suck and they only give you one blanket and no comforter. They did eventually produce a comforter, after I requested my second blanket. Anyway, these are just little things that in my opinion were frustrating, especially when paying $200 dollars a night.
